    Hey folks,

    New member here.

I hoped to get some info on a good driving school in the Atlanta area.

I'm looking for something that's going to be quick, but gives a solid base.

As I have a student driver position open to me.

    welcome

have you checked to see if a technical school is in atl that has a truck driving class? you may be able to get a grant with them so it will cost you little or nothing to go.

Man can I tell you a good school. North Metro Technical College, 5198 Ross Rd.,Acworth, GA 30102, ph# 770-975-4000. Pal these folks have some of the highest standards and best scores in the state. John McDivitt is the dept head at this time with over 30 yrs experience in training. All the driving instructors are retired drivers w/ 30 yrs plus behind the wheel as a pro. Check em out ,they rock.:biggrin_25525:

Avoid the school on Moreland Ave just across the Clayton county line. Looks like a CDL mill if I' ve ever seen one.

Look for a tech school or community college first.

Of course, I went to a CDL mill and did just fine, only took 3 weeks. But when I finally got on my own, I wished to hell I would have went to a better school. Took about 6 months before I even felt somewhat comfortable driving around Atlanta.

Are you talking about ADF America's driving force? thats where I went. they teach the basics for you to pass the cdl test what ever is on the test written and driving they teach DOT to tha max. they are an accredited school with a LOT of companies some ppl actually did not pass on the second time and had re-do the course. I love open road Hammer down, turn and burn

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

I just my Pre-hire approval for Averitt yesterday and need to pick the school. I was looking into Daly's, being it is close to home, also it is a three week course. Also had looked into Dekalb Tech, longer class time and may get a grant.

    Questions:
Is it better to take the longer class time or to get driving.

Is Averitt good for a starting company ( training, miles, home time, etc. )

Would it be better to pay for school my self or use Averitt's payback program
( 2 cents less per mile and $150.00 per month )

Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Graduated May 20th with an overall score of 94.
Had my doubts at first, but they do prepare you for the DDS test.
They have multiple instructors in their 70's that have been driving 40 + years.
Not a bad school, just steer clear of David.
