Automatic will not go into gear during test

The fmcsa has implemented new testing rules this year changing how testing and permits are handled, including a federal ie. nationwide automatic transmission restriction. I don't have time to look for the rules right now.

 

What I found out today, Kansas does not have this restriction yet. They are considering it, but so far no plans on implementing it in the near future.

 

Do you have the toggle switch on the column or the buttons mounted somewhere? Toggle are called Smart shift or something like that. You may need an adjustment if you are having to really hold it on floor hard and wait that long. They are same 10 speed as rest. Just a little different to operate. Driving any of them is not the big thing so many on here act like. Couple of hours and I could have you or anyone w/ any driving ability handling either one. Too many hacks badmouthing something they know little or nothing about.. Driving an auto does not make you any less of a driver than an 18 makes you great. They're just trucks. Be smarter than it is, know the rules, be careful, and go make some money.

 

With some autoshifts, you have to let off the fuel pedal for the transmission to shift during acceleration. The opposite needs to happen during deceleration. Apply some fuel for the transmission to downshift.
