Whoa, driving is only a privilege because the powers that be like to state that is what it is and entails.

The fact is that travel is Constitutionally protected. The Supreme court has deemed a personal vehicle to be 'personal' property and/or effects.

After all, one pays to play for the 'right' to use public roadways via fuel taxes(gas and diesel). It's increasingly hard to deem something a true privilege when one certainly has to pay to play.

Moreover, saying someone doesn't have the 'right' to drive their 'personal' property is the same as saying you have the 'right' to walk anywhere you wish... but without shoes.

It's not a black and white as the powers that be like to make you think!

If they do mandate them the total economic nature of the county will change almost overnight.

This is quite involved and I'll explain if anyone is interested.

But operating a CMV is not the same as driving a Prius or an Outback...

We need to have some degree of regulation in this business Otherwise...We become like a third world dung heap.....

No HOS.....No Safety enforcement and accountability....Basically every truck held together by duct tape and tie-wire...

Funny how the very same people who whine about all of the "unfair" regulations, would be same ones to cry if their carriers shorted them.....
Or their carriers forced them to drive 18 hours a day...Seven days a week.....And "home-time" once a year....

Capitalisim- The part where they show ways to spike productivity to its fullest potential while keeping level or cut wages. This is trucking's way of doing it. Either way we're all screwed in the end being over worked and underpaid and eventually forced to the #### house with no ground to stand on. But hey, at least I still have my guns and it'll be a cold day in hell before they ever take those!

So why are carriers "forced" to use ELogs again?

I mean nobody runs past their "11" or exceeds their "70" ever....Right?

shredfit , you also, had to apply and receive a drivers permit from a state . You break the rules and the judge takes your permit . Did He just deny you your said right to drive ?
They do not want your guns as much any more , do a little homework on new ammo ! It now has a 6 month shelf life !You save same for next year and it will not go bang ! Time to start reloading your own shells if not already !

If you have been paying attention to all the lobbying in DC and at all the EOBR meetings, you would hear that the main complaint of the MEGA carriers who want EOBR's to be mandated is that they want to, and I quote, "Level the playing field with independants"

But will they level the entire playing field by passing their discounts on fuel to us, or their discounts on insurance??? heck no, so until they want to operate on a LEVEL playing field for ALL....they can kiss my ###

Working you are correct ! the ones who are not willing to evolve are the reason every body has to suffer ! I was , years ago was one of the worst , be learned and had to grow up ! And a correction to a earier post , I had miss spoke about NCDOT pluging in to the gps in the ecm, I was mistaken . Talked to the o/o late this week , they pluged into the same port and the Quialcomm DOES have gps and always has ! It told that his truck had moved from south beach fl to mebane nc nonstop with a solo . Log had not showed him entering fl . So I was wrong on which peice of elecronics told on him , end result was the same 10000$ fine ! They record your plate number at every scale house , toll booth , and if you have Pre/Ezy pass one sorce has both on one data base. They are starting to share info ! So with or with out Elogs the days I cut my teeth on are numbered!
