omg this is getting to funny to pass ( there ) credit criteria sounds shady to me. after iv'e made all the payments and kept there crap maintained and the tanks full i should be given the option to buy it out and ( there criteria ) should not have anything to do with it cause chances are i'm taking my shiny toy and going else where!! and you'll come out cheaper buying a decent used truck and trailer than leasing from them ########!!

I certainly wouldn't need anyone to show me how to be my own boss...that I can do on my own..

This crap about that you can be your own boss is bs.

They will tell you where to go when to fuel and how to run that truck....
Want to know what that is?.......

Haha okay fair enough. Long story short, my friend leased a truck and then became a trainer because thats the only way to turn a decent profit after those lease payments. All went well for the first two months then he stopped getting decent miles and actually ended up sitting for 2 or 3 days i dont remember exactly...then they took his student away and were deliberately avoiding routing him through Salt Lake City to pick up another one. So it went for another couple months where he was only making like maybe 100 bucks a week after all was said and done and he kept hoping it was only temporary...until he finally had enough and quit the job. My other friend who used to work for CRE had a similar experience. I had planned on going through CRE to get my class A like they did but after that I went to a different school instead, because I didn't want the same thing to happen to me.

    AfterShock Thanks this.

First Question is, after spending 2 or 3 years leasing a truck, and if you like to make money, why would you want to buy a truck with several hundred thousand miles on it anyway?

Second question. What part of the difference between lease and purchase was not understood?

No matter how many times I say this, these stupid posts still pop up. Just because a handful of people has had issues doesn't mean everyone does/will.

BS. You can fuel anywhere you want. It's a matter of communication. They send you a optimizer at the start of every trip. If you need to fuel somewhere else, you can send a mac 51 to request a new optimizer, or a mac 20 to make a individual stop compliant. Even as a company driver, I rarely follow the origional optimizer they give me.

Why does the company do this? Because if you're a IC on the fuel cap program, you're only paying $1.25 per gallon of fuel. The company buys the rest. You can opt not to be on the fuel cap program and buy fuel anywhere you want in the fuel rebate program, but you're going to be paying full price for fuel unless you can keep your MPG up.

Why did you go to CRE in the first place? Did you do your research by using this website? Guess not!

So what you are saying is that England doesn't pay a fuel surcharge? You're not convincing me that there aren't better deals out there. I get a fuel surcharge for all dispatched miles and pay my company's price for fuel. I can fuel anywhere, but I get my best price following their fuel plan. The only time I pay full pump price is if I have to go to some out of the way independant station.

As far as buying the truck, I have an amoritization buy-out schedule as part of the contract. My company may not finance the remaining balance, but that doesn't stop me from saving my pennies to buy it outright or finding a loan elsewhere. I'm not going to tell you I have no complaints, just when I look at people who like their deal, I realize there are better one's out there. If anyone is thinking of a lease deal look closely before signing on the dotted lines and compare programs.

When you become an I/C driver you have become a small business owner. If you don't understand this difference and don't know how to set up and run a business you will fail. There is a reason why the failure rate for new businesses is over 90%.

Research on this website doesn't mean anything. As I noted, just because a few people have had problems doesn't mean everyone will. The posts on this forum are biased, and biased doesn't do anything for me. Most of the England trash talkers on this forum never even drove for the company, and if this is you then I'm sorry but your opinion means nothing to me.

And FWIW, I'm not defending the company. I'm just correcting the BS.

My post isn't implying anything other than what it said.

If you're an I/C and are on the fuel cap, you deserve to lose your shirt. It's pretty basic business analysis to figure out the the fuel cap is a rip off vs. the rebate.
