    @ aftershock
i'm not liking this persons choice but what can you do except let them live and learn. i just hope and prey they don't get sucked into leasing the truck. as when i wanted to lease a shiny object and ask cr england to snail mail me a copy of the lease agreement so i could take it to my lawyer and have him tell me if the agreement would benifeit them or me. as they refused to send it wich raised red flags to lure me in there so they could get a kick back off me. as well asif this person don't lease a truck they might send this person home and tell this person they don't have any company trucks availible also while this person is not making any money sitting at home waiting. it will be interesting to follow this persons outcome to. not trying to discourage this person but it's always better to be ( blunt ) than see someone have there whole career screwed up and there life depending the route they go as far as leasing and not saying there all bad i would not lease as a newbie and shure in the hell not from a starter co. iv'e talked to england drivers that are so far in debt with them it's not even funny and they all say that they have to compete with trainers for miles not one of em's happy there.

Thanks for that! You know, one could go crazy if I went by everything people say. Good and bad everywhere! I do know that I also have alot to do with how my experiences turn out and that there will always be lessons, no matter where I go.

So I am going in with a positive attitude, willing to soak up as much information as I can. I have a good work ethic, never been afraid to put in a hard days work and will do my best to respect the whole process. Ditto for my husband. We have been wanting to do this for awhile now (we are what some would call a "mature couple", although that's doesn't mean we aren't a bit dain-bramaged!)

We have friends in Dallas area 15 miles from the school putting us up, they have lots of dogs (gotta have my fix as mine will be at my sisters in Lubbock) and that will provide a little bit of normalcy as we jump into it. CR England just happens to be in the Dallas area and we had just enough money to cover our bills for a few months while we relocate from Washington. Family has been wanting me back to Texas for awhile now.

I do know after kicking around this planet for awhile that one must take leaps of faith off the cliff occasionally and trust in myself and the universe! Life has not always been fair (no one ever said it was), has been down right terrifying, toxic, and totally insane and I HAVE SURVIVED and worked hard to reclaim every bit of myself that was taken through all of that. What ever the universe has in store for me, I meet it with eyes and heart open!

Thanks for any and all support, I receive it graciously, and will try to post a few comments daily once we get started on the 14th.

    REMEMBER....LAUGHTER IS GOOD MEDICINE!! :biggrin_2559:

Positive attitude , good work ethic , yup we've heard that all before from people headed to CRE . Looking forward to your daily posts .
How often did the CRE recruiter tell you you would get back to Dallas if you complete training and lease a truck ?

I appreciate information and hey...one has to start somewhere. I'm just not one of those people who believe that what's true for others has to be true for me.

Never been one to jump on the bandwagon, always been one that disturbs the status quo and that can be a good thing!

take it that this person will be just fine...no matter what.

I trust...not in companies, but in myself...will always end up on my own 2 feet.

Been to hell and back...not much out there to frighten me except allowing myself to get caught up in others' experiences. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. Moved on to other lessons thank you very much.

I'm not saying that what others experienced wasn't real for them, just saying that there were important lessons for them in that experience. There is not one experience in my life that i regret, i accept it all as part of my existence here.

However it goes for us, there is always something there for us to learn (which means growth). How can there be something "bad" in that?

How about providing some useful information and just good vibes, not comments about how "you" think it will be.
    Anybody....

    P.S.

One can offer useful and true (albeit discouraging information)...and not come from a place of needing to be right. What I mean by good vibes is to offer something useful, something that might actually help us, not just something to steer us away or give someone the opportunity to say "i told you so".

Any suggestions on avoiding certain pitfalls?

Any suggestions on how to earn a living trucking when our money will run out in a month or so. We can't just traipse all over the country avoiding companies based on what other people say.

I'm reaching out to those who have been around the block and are interested in offering helpful tips, no matter what company we happen to go with. Things to look out for, be aware of, questions to ask, etc. That can't be that difficult!

The trucking industry isn't a place where you can just learn from bad experiences and go on . Start with the wrong company , leave on bad terms , and you end up with a negative DAC report that could end your trucking career before it ends .
"Free" training is rarely free . Too many people have left before meeting their employment obligation and ended up being billed over $3,000 for the training .

The majority of the pitfalls are self-inflicted. If you run legally, and not have any service failures, you aren't going to have any problems.
