I have done many things. Been a machinist, oil change pit monkey, car wash attendant, straight-truck driver, delivered and assembled Select Comfort beds, pr0n star, musical instrument technician, and bass player.

Bass player is the coolest profession I've ever paid taxes on. I would be doing it right now and would drop trucking in a heartbeat for the right opportunity.

My father-in-law was a state trooper for 30 years then bought a truck after retiring. I DONT CARE WHO YOU ARE THATS FUNNY!!! :biggrin_2559: He was telling me about a DOT inspection and was showin me the violations he got wrote up for. In his words "CAN YOU BELIEVE THEY WROTE ME UP FOR THIS!!!" I smiled and asked him how it felt to be on the other side of that deal for a change. He didnt find it as funny as I did.

Farm kid, then worked in a packing plant for a few years, then prefab factory housing as a carpenter, then copier repair tech, then for Sprint/Nextel as a cell phone tech (not sales, actual repair)for about 3 years til I was burnt out at having customers yell and spit at me and managers stabbing me in the back...now at 32 onto truck driving...so far the easiest thing I have ever done...and enjoy it so far..

    Sailor (USN); teacher; shipping/receiving manager.

After ten years in the classroom I determined the children were getting faster, and Mr. Michael was getting slower. Must admit, however, that the wealth of patience and all-around coping skills developed as a teacher have served me quite well in many aspects of my driving career.

I can definitely say I like trucking...nowhere near the stress i used to deal with.
