Being a good driver does not make you a good business man. How many reasturants with great food go under?
As an O/O you need to come in this as a business first and the driving is just one task you have to perform as part of the business.
If you can't figure out how to make your trucking business work without you behind the wheel then all you have done is buy yourself a job.
Do the math on many of these owner operators running mileage and when TRUE costs are figured most are running for less than company drivers.SHC, BigJohn54 and fortycalglock Thank this. -
WOW I'm a lease operator in the tanker world, and my 62% is at least 50% higher than that!!!!!!!

Are you a lease operator or a owner operator? Big difference.

$4.00 a mile is not crazy if you own and maintain and insure the truck and trailer and insure the freight. If you are paying for all that, and not getting $3.50-$4.00 a mile then that is exactly why your on here looking for help. Most (not all) brokers are leach's that want you to do all the work and pay all the bills. If the customer is paying $4.00 a mile + FSC and your getting $1.80 +FSC then the broker is getting $2.20 a mile for calling you and telling you to go get it. Explain to me how that is not absolute robbery.Blind Driver Thanks this.
