I just love this ####, all you veteran drivers on this board are the best. Made my day again. One thing, these stories wont go away for a while. There will always be someone on this board, that will ALWAYS put a smile on someone here with the good ol days stories.

My mom's cousin was a bullhauler back then. He told me about the good old days, poppin west coast turn arounds and doing runs from Colorado to Dallas and back without stopping, running his W900 with coffin sleeper at 75 mph on the backroads.
As for his logbook? Don't ask, lol! -

how about morning wake up calls at the truck stop with a fresh cup of coffee!! dont miss 1st truck I drove a IHC coe no p/s no air ride, or cab short wheel base your darn left foot & leg would get frost on them in winter. 1st time went across the gw bridge i bounced so high got a big ole knot on my head from hittin the roof!!!!!

Old school guy having a hard time adapting to 1984 NWO regs. Use to run 17-20. Now cut off at 11the e log, DPF, A/C I don't know what's next truck drives it's self or mexican trucks or guest worker program due to U.S drivers not willing to work for ¢15/mile. Ughgggg

20+ years ago we had 6 million less laws. And we had acuall truckstops.

30 years ago you got into trucking because you wanted to!
Now it is "I cant find a job so if I can find someone to pay for it I will drive a truck it cant be that hard"
30 years ago you could tell a trucker by the way he dressed!!
Today the same but just not in a good way.
30 years ago allot of people wanted to be a trucker!!
Today allot of people feel that they have to be a trucker because it is easy money.
30 years ago you were expected to know what you were doing and you were left alone to your job!
Today today you are expected to be a dipschlitz and everyone feels the need to tell you how to do your job.
Heck today's driver even buys a little box to tell him which road to take to do his job for him.
30 years ago if you hit something you said I hit something !
Today all I hear is ya I hit something but it isn't my fault.
30 years ago you heard I got a ticket for running 75!
Today you hear my truck wont even run the speed limit.
30 years ago you heard I don't need the government to tell me how to do my job!
Today you hear they need to make a law to protect me from myself.
30 years ago you worked like a man and you were fed like a man at the truckstop.
Today you work like a dog and are fed like a child happy meal and all at the travel center.
That just a few things that come to mind for now . -
And if you were really lucky, the foot pump driven windshield washer put a couple of dribbles of fluid on your windshield.
