Depending on the info other guys can give you here you could also call cummins with your cpl# and see if you need to change any "hard" parts to go with higher hp. I would guess cam, inj's & turbo. Even then they may not want to reprogram ECM due to tranny torque rating. Sometimes you can take ECM off and take to cummins so they aren't responsible for driveline failures. If you drive sensible you have nothing to worry about. I would not go over 500hp, it seems the 525's had problems with heads wiggling and losing head gaskets or liner protusion issues.

You would think so but it doesn't feel that way at all.
Could it have something to do with the fact that I'm running 60mph @ 1700 rpm and peak torque is all the way down at 1200 rpm and peak HP is at 2100? Even running empty it feels this way. (Like it's never coasting, always under load) I don't like it. I actually got about the same fuel milage loaded and empty. It seems I remember people used to say that about very low geared vehicles. I don't mind dragging up and flying down so much but it feels like I'm dragging down too. I did notice that the front rear was running about 200 degrees and the back and transmission temps were a lot cooler than that. Maybe there is a problem with the front rear eating up some power?
The front piece has an oil filter and I suppose an oil pump. The rear has splash lube. It's a RT 40-145 I think. Both chunks are marked 4.33.

That is some steep gearing. I'm sure that when you go to you're 3.70's you'll have a totally different truck. Probably feels like your driving a quarry truck with the 4.33's.

    blanco Thanks this.

    Cool
Ya, I'm wonder If that 400HP is at 1600 or 2100?
    I haven't found proof of a 400 hp file @1600.(only 2100)
Another thing. What is the torque on the 400hp file?
I need it down low and would like to have the 1550 ft.lbs torque.
    I saw a 370hp file that had peak torque of 1550 @1200.
    400hp @ 1600 and peak torque of 1550 @1200 would work I think.
It wouldn't be a hot rod but it would be sufficient.

One last thing. Is this a file change or only a parameter chenge in the ECM?
