My Prime Adventure

Haven't had a chance to update. Been busy lately.

Truck was in shop for 6 hours and came out with.....nothing wrong.

Turns out the problem wasn't my truck but was actually the beat to crap trailer I had.

Well, I had a short run to outside of Memphis Tenn. in Mississippi to drop a repowered load. I ended up missing my exit and got horribly lost. (can towns please put a place for trucks to turn around on truck routes...seriously). Along this part I somehow hit a piece of wood or something as one of my trailer tires ended up with wood stuck between the tire and rim. So I got to roll while losing air pressure, how fun!

Anyway. Delivered my first load this morning at 0300. Bumped my first solo dock. Paid my first solo outrageous lumper fee. And made my first solo detention time for sitting in the dock for 6 hours.

After this I took it to the shop, no thanks to the horrible Prime directions. I ended up taking a road to turn around and lo and behold, there was the tire shop. Not even on the road they said. Anyway, they fixed the tire and didn't charge me/Prime anything for it. Which makes me happy.

Got my first full solo load. Picked up in middle of nowhere Mississippi a load of sweet potatoes. They 'loaded' it by basically throwing a ton of potatoes in my trailer. No boxes or anything. Receiver is going to LOVE me. Taking this load up to Wisconsin, 950 miles total and got till Sunday at 1100 to get there. Sitting at a truck parking in Arkansas right now with about 700 miles left.

So got a nice full day tomorrow and a half day Sunday morning to get this load done. Shouldn't have a problem providing luck decides to come my way for once. After this run, hoping to get a load to Ohio to see the family and finish setting up my truck.

It's been an adventure so far. Stressful as hell at times. I've probably dealed with road assist more then any rookie in his first week. Yet at the same time, it's rewarding to do the job. Every time I bump a dock, a smile is on my face. Even if it takes an hour to bump it. I get excited when I turn the keys and know I'm in full control.

Oh. I am very happy with my mini truck. It's very easy to drive, very easy to back and I love the thing to death. Yes, it's smaller but for one person, it really ain't too bad. Especially when you factor in the extra 5 cents a mile.

I will say one thing. In my short time on my own, never once have I been upset with my decision to choose Prime. Even with the problems I had, they have been helpful and supportive the whole time.

Finally. Thank you to the friendly driver at the Loves in Mississippi who helped me slide my fifth wheel as I had never done it before.
