Can someone tell me a company to work for that does not have forced dispatch. I'm not willing to go to the east coast (solo female) and have gotten driver managers that wont give much work if you don't go.
I am not an owner op.:biggrin_2554:
    thanks

My only suggestion would be to look for a regional carrier or fleet. I don't care much for the East Coast myself but I go where the money is.

Try McDonalds or Walmart. Seriously, as a truck driver your job is to go where ever the company requires you to go as long as it's not Illegal, Immoral, or puts you or the truck in danger. I'm reminded of something that happened when i was 15 years old. I had my first semi-full time job working the summer at a place that build ski lifts. It was a small 5 man shop and my job was to fetch steel for the fabricator, clean the shop and do the painting, among other odd jobs. ! day the owner asked if I would work saturday and I agreed. I met him at the shop and he proceeded to drive me over to his house and have me mow his lawn. I was royally pi$$ed off as that was NOT my job. I when home afterwards and complained to my mother about having to cut his grass and she said, "did you get paid?". "Yes". "Did you get paid your regular rate?". "Yes". "So what do you care?". I said "I care because that is not my job". She said "NO, your job is to do whatever he tells you to as long as it's not illegal, immoral, or puts you in unnecessary danger". When the next major depression happens, and it may be sooner than later, people will once again realize how lucky they are to have someone willing to pay them for their time.

My man man-stincts have alerted me that the brainwashing conducted by the feminist movement over the last 40 years seems to be wearing off. I would say that all the early feminists are turning in their graves at the mere thought of a woman not driving all 48 + Canada.

Seriously, Sweetheart, wasn't this all discussed before you took the gig? If you have what we would call, "special needs", find a job that is either dedicated and runs in lanes you are comfortable with, or put on your big girl britches and do what is expected of you.

I'm from the East Coast. It's not that bad.

Even "no forced dispatch" companies will want you to take whatever load they want to give you. If you decline enough, you will be on dispatchers poo-poo list. Same with O/O's. The dispatcher's motto: Loads gotta go....now !

If you want non-forced dispatch or just work when you want then get hired by a driver temp service. That way you only take the runs you want and can be home whenever.
Not sure what you expected but most companies unless dedicated will run you where ever they need you to go.

I'd say buy your own truck. But even that doesn't guarantee no east coast....
