Just finished school in June and orientation & 6 weeks training in August.
I was terminated after 3 preventables. 1 in training (trailer door at a nasty inside loading dock in Wisconsin; and the other 2 in the same day in my 2nd week as a solo driver (crushed a stop sign I didn't see and curbed 2 tires) Sounds and looks bad but I really am a good driver I just had a real bad day. No moving vilations, DUI, drug issues and I've been in 28 states and about 20,000 miles.
I'm assuming I can't get work because of my DAC report? Where/How can I get a second chance? Any constuctive help appreciated.

Going to be tough finding another carrier to hire you. You need to slow down and pay attention. There is a reason they call these preventables! If you are good driver then there is no reason for these accidents. If you are given a second chance you need to tighten up!

The problem I see with this statement is that when a driver has a bad day with a 80,000 LB truck, it will almost always result in a death. You should consider yourself lucky that your preventables were 'minor'. If your accidents resulted in the death of a pedestrian or another motorist, would you have told their family that you were just having a 'bad day'? There is no excuse to not pay attention to the task at hand, which is driving. Slow down, and pay attention to what you are doing. If you're too sick or too tired to drive, don't drive. Ignore what your trainer tells you if he/she wants you to drive.

That being said, just start applying to a bunch of companies. Sooner or later, one of those applications will bite.

I can't stress how important safety is. Safety comes before schedule, every time all the time.

That's a good one I never heard that. Do you mind if I use it? I know what it is just don't know if I ever worked for a carrier that put anything on it. Cause if I did I would have never gotten a job after my last one.

Any damage to the equipment is an accident....

If you were a "good' driver you would not have had those problems... you are an "inexperienced" driver... I hope you learn from your mistakes. Unfortunately those were some costly mistakes...

Good luck... find a small, local carrier that will take you under their wing and teach you....

lots of drivers say that they are a good driver. What actually makes you a good so I will know if I am one or not? :biggrin_25525: Have you ordered a copy of your dac to see whats on there yet? Do you even know if the carrier you were working for uses dac? If you are blessed enough to get another chance after those incidents then if I were you I would minimize all the distractions (cell phone, radio, cb, etc) and put some real focus on your driving so when you become more experienced, driving safely wherever you go will be like second nature to you. You will become one with the truck and it will "talk" to you or maybe I have been in the truck too long, LOL Keep the dirty side down and good luck
