I know all of you feel you have some excuse why you should be exempt from all parts of HOS when it makes your life inconvenient. The very simple fact is a they are coming, and noone will care about your scheduling problems. All of which could be easily fixed with jump seating, teams, different scheduling, or people not opposed to using the sleeper when stuff goes wrong.

At that point you will have a decision to make.

As a side not crawl down off your cross. I have some very disturbing news for you. On occassion us" queens" have loads that are equally as tight, and crap does go wrong on occasion.Guess what? The earth still turns if the load is late, if we have to layover for rescheduled appointments, or if (now brace yourself) the load never gets there. The very same rules that apply to you apply to us(Well unless your intrastate or local ).
Rat if using that sleeper bothers you that much don't do the runs that put you in jeopardy of using it.This is not a 9-5 go home industry as you well know.

And Fisher try acting like a grown up instead of Interlachen bred. Name calling further invalidates your flawed argument.

You can tell who are the company drivers that take their $700 and go home and who are the owner op trying to make a living and keep the wheels turning to do so. How about we all as truck drivers go on strike? They can't produce enough new graduates to keep up with all of us on strike. Make them listen.

oooo struck a nerve i see:biggrin_2559: i'll tell you what tazz come on up here to new england and show us how to do it 100% legally. lets see if u can run with the big boys. spreading that DOT gospel crap will get you one place in this (trash) industry....the unemployment line... sometimes you gotta be able to bend the rules or flex im not saying go on a energy drink binge and run sun up to sun down and keep going to sun up again im just saying you gotta be able to conserve ur hours through out the day only by about 1 to 2 hours day. by the time its all said and done that little bit of flexing and bending couldve of got you 3-4 more loades that week easily netting 400-500 more dollars on the check or the ability to be home more then 3 nights a week instead of sleeping in a truck stop or in a pickle park somewhere.

as for the name calling that was just because i'm looking at ur past post in this thread and thats exactly how you are coming off as. your almost acting like ur better then everyone else on here. guess what??? Your not because you can not honestly sit there and tell me you have never once in your life fudged a log book but at least 15 minutes. if you tell me you haven't you are either a bold faced liar or are fresh out of the driver mill

oh PS about the the lil fixes you suggested

    1) No one drives my truck but the boss and even he doesnt drive cuz he knows i hate it i dont team never have never will

2)teams dont work because we usually are done for the day around 7 o clock

    3) schedualing is all done by phone and it all depends on how the other drivers are making out

    4) i stay in my truck just about all week long unless im within an hour away from the house and im on my way by it

Most of the ones saying elogs are a good idea are company drivers that don't care. The company drivers that do care about money and hometime or parking and owner operators are the ones that think it is something unnessasary. Just my 2 cents. I am an owner op and got into trucking for the freedom to work when I want and park when I want. I know when I am tired or when I am out of hours and I don't need some box thing telling me to stop at a certain time. If they are free then I might try one out otherwise take them and shove em. I will stick to paper logs till I am absolutley forced to go to elogs.

E-logs aren't unessesary. If you run legal, there won't be a difference between e-logs and paper. I ran with both, and don't care either way. I do like the simplicity of e-logs though.

I can understand the money aspect of it though. Unfortunately, the majority of the problems I've seen thus far in this thread come from O/O's who think they own the highway and are exempt from 395. As they say "One bad apple spoils the bunch".

Thats a rush to judgement thinking owner ops think they own the highway. Not all run illegal. And whats funny is there are probably more company drivers running illegal than owner ops. And for the drivers that need the simplicity of e-logs can choose to have them and the rest of the drivers can go without them. Running on paper is personally just as easy to use and as long as you run legal it only takes a couple of minutes to do. The thing is they can't expect it to be so cut and dry. There are times when a driver will not be able to stop when they run out of hours until they find a safe place to park the rig. They should not be ticketed for the lack of safe parking. And for the people that say pull over 30 minutes to an hour before time runs out go tell that to the birds. We are out here to make money not sit for an hour before nessesary. Also if you(being feds or insurance company or whoever)want e-logs then you pay to have them put in the trucks. An owner op shouldn't have to spend even more unnessasary money just to try to make a buck.

Exactly..if i can take 5 min. to pop in a light then have to wait sometimes an hour or more for someone at the TA to do it, then I will...thats an hour saved and 60 miles further down the road.[/QUOTE]

And save the company a bundle on repairs. Do you think they will ever once thank you for it? Highly unlikely. Maybe give them some advice that they can also save a bundle by switching to Gieco?
