Whoa!! Sudden change of plans! Schneider called me to offer me a position. Said I could take the southern region or the GP Dedicated! Exciting news for me!
Looks like I'll be headed down to Dallas for a week of Schneider training then maybe a week with a trainer if they think I need it. Much, much better than the 300hours with a Werner trainer! No offense to the Werner guys.
Called Werner right after I got off the phone with Schneider to let them know that I wasn't taking their offer. The recruiter was obviously not happy, but I think he understood why when I told him Schneider was starting me off at experienced pay. That's not bad at all in this economy. I was very glad to hear from Schneider. Hopefully everything works out and I'll be there for years.
So, much apologies to Werner, but I've got to go with Schneider. Man, I'm relieved.

Highly considering biting the bullet and going to Roadmasters so I don't have to tie myself down with companies like Swift or Prime who may or may not be able to provide the equipment or flexibility I'd like to have.
Any other suggestions for alternative education? Don't get me wrong, I went down, toured the school, spoke with most of the staff and several students. I was pleased with what the students had to say, but the price tag is just nagging at me. -
check all of your options before you go into debt.

Ya, I've been weighing those heavily. My girlfriend and I have also been discussing it ad nauseum. Good discussion today as well. In the short term, it would mean a little more money even if financed. In trade, I would get more job choices. From what I've researched on Prime and Swift, there's just too many unanswered questions to warrant a 1 or 2 year commitment and limiting my choices to just 2 companies.
I'll probably go back to RM and seal the deal this week. It'll be nice to have an opportunity to grill Stevens, Werner, Schneider, and others.

Before you do that, I highly suggest reading the several threads on this board about those companies.Sourdough Thanks this.

Been doing nothing but that for the past few days. Trying to get as educated as I can so I know what questions to ask and concerns to address. I appreciate it!

Well, I pulled the trigger and start with Roadmasters on Monday. Since I just recently relocated to Oklahoma from Alaska, I went ahead and opted for the 3-4 week program so I can get this all knocked out and get started on pre-hire.
I was handed applications for Roehl, TMC, and US Xpress to start filling out and bring with me on the first day of class. After a very frank talk with KC, I was encouraged to research TMC and I really like what I see thus far. Percentage of freight has it's appeal.
KC is a straight shooter. I think it was a huge relief to him that I had no record, ok credit, good work history, a lot of references, and no health issues. As such, I have a feeling I'll be asking quite a few questions of him and company recruiters when it comes time to choose an offer.
I'll continue in this thread and try to update as training progresses since most of the info in this thread is almost 2 years old. -
RM:Tul has a facebook page, too!

Just FYI for you, there is a votech, just right down the road from you, that will charge you half the price of roadmaster. Its called Drumright votech. In a loaner trk at the moment so can't give you the particulars right now. If interested, will look it up for you later today.
