I have noticed my longer runs are almost gone now too. Been doing a lot of smaller runs mostly on the east coast. Only time I get the longer runs is to get me back home for home time and I don't take much home time. Will be moving in a few months to midwest and was wondering if anyone new anything about the Farmland dedicated.

But then that put my tandems about a foot off for VA bridge law. So had to go back and get it reloaded. Which was okay because I only had a half a tank of fuel with this load so filled up on the way back to reload. Also found out when I got back from a driver from another company that there is a scale at a farm about 5 miles from them and they will let you use there scale for free. So second time geting legal was much easier. -
MX, that's nothing new. Central did that when we were there. All of their dedicated and major accounts had top priority. Maybe the long loads are going more to the teams. Central may have a lot more teams now then when we were there. When we drove for Central there were hardly any teams. Any coast to coast or hot loads are going to go to the teams. It cost them money to give these loads to single drivers. Why pay a single driver and tie up a truck to haul a load when a team can do it in less than half the time?!
As for the dedicated accounts, it is very important to have a truck there waiting to roll when they need them to be. If Central were to make one of those accounts unhappy there are thousands of companies out there that would gladly jam their foot in that door!

Long loads are becoming rare because of how shippers are structuring there business. Be more regional. Produce the product closer to the consumer and save money on transportation. Yes teams may get them, but as an industry, loads have gotten shorter.

Chompi I totally agree with you dedicated has priority over Otr. I was just saying that atleast with dole we also have dedicated accounts for our return trip west. I do think that most companies are also going more regional too. I know towards the end when we were Otr it was very difficult to get a load over 1000 miles unless you were lucky and got a Hershey load.

Loads are going more regional! If anything with the internet going stronger, loads are going more all over. It's still cheaper for a company to ship product then to build warehouses and store product all over the country. Companies like Kraft that do have warehouses all over end up moving stuff all over anyways to avoid being taxed on it. I'm sure you Central drivers that run Kraft know all about that.
Also a big part of Central's freight is produce and you aren't going to plant avocado's or almonds in Kentucky to avoid shipping costs from Cali!

Not sure what y'all call long, but I just delivered a 1600 mile load and now I got an 890 mile load.. Plus there is about 350 DH mile added to that..
Up until recently Kraft has been good to me. Never had to worry about my next load.. Usually got it before I was even close to my 99. Stayed well above 2700 miles per paid period.
Now I got a new DM who has a lot to learn... However, I can't and won't be his learning curve..
