    Hi all!

Ok so here's the deal. I've been trucking solid from 2000 to 2009. In May 2009, the company I worked for had a major layoff. I applied at other companys, mostly local work, but nobody was hiring due to the faltering economy. I decided to head back to college and got my degree Computer IT. Been trying to get back into the industry since January 2011, but for the life of me, I can't seem to get hired anywhere. This is a first for me, I was always in big demand. I'm guessing this is due to the fact of being out of trucking since the lay off..

I have a very clean driving record, only one accident in 2009 where a 4 wheeler jumped a red light and hit my pup (Not at fualt), and a seatbelt ticket in my personal vehicle in 2009 as well. Other than that my abstact is spotless.

I have experience in Dry Vans, Flatbeds, Reefers, moving floors and Pnuematics. Also have my triples endorsement and current medical card. Spotless background check (no felonys, DUI, Reckless driving etc)l.

Anyways, I'm looking for work in the WA State area (Marysville WA).

Looking for a stable company with good pay and benefits to work for.

    TIA !

Have you looked on line with Craigslist or other sites, I know there is alot of work in the SeaTac area with the ports and all, not sure about Marysville specifically though.

    Hi guys,

Yeah been checking out Craiglist, Worksource and so on. Been to a few interviews that I thought went well but no offers to date. Can't figure out what's going on except for the fact that I haven't driven a rig in 2 years. Haven't lost a step in my driving ability and my abstract is pretty darn clean as is my background check.

I always thought driving was a stable career especially with experience but this sure is a big wake up call for me.

I don't mind spending one or 2 days out of town a week, but not that interested in long hauling. I have 2 German Shepherds that would be pretty tough to fit into a rig lol and would cost me a fortune to board for 2 weeks at a time.

I found local work driving a possum belly woodchip hauler down here in SW WA.
I work for Walsh Trucking, their closest terminal to you is Tacoma I think but there must be other chip haulers closer up your way.

Yeah, I drove Chips, Sawdust, Hogfuel for 4 years at Puget Sound Freight lines. Unfortunatelt they are no longer in business. I think Haney owns them now. I'm pretty familiar with Walsh. They pay by the load don't they? If I remember correctly, they park a few trucks up in the Arlington area also. Wonder if that's still the case?

Think I'll give them a call on monday and see if they are hiring. I'm just filling out an application for White Buffalo Trucking now (they are the contractors for the USPS).

Right now I just want to get a job driving before I hit that dreaded 3 year mark this May!

Man, I remember the days when I could leave one job if they didn't treat me right, make one call while driving home and start work the following day! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever find myself in this predicament.
