Moose, there would be no you if we allowed other people that want to do you me harm to come here and do you or me harm.

I don't think if someone is holding a gun to your head and about ready to pull the trigger, that you would not appreciate a Marine sniper killing them before you got killed.

That is essentially what the military does, it defends our country from the bullies, so you don't loose your lunch money...

Moose - Just curious why you are so anti-military? Was there a loss in your family due to a war or military action that turned you? If I have mis-represented you as anti-military I apologize...just curious

It's not so much being anti-military as it is being anti-take-life-and-choice-into-my-own-hands.

If I choose to die for my beliefs - as opposed to killing for them - I should be allowed to do so.

So when someone says that they 'did it for me', I get really offended.
They are not fighting and killing for my freedom, they are actually fighting and killing to take away my own freedom of choice.
They are making me their scapegoat, and their accomplice.

ORT WIFE, Thanks for your post, wish it had not been hi-jacked by a wall street protester. I agree with your morals and principals. :)

Thank you ORT Wife for starting this thread, and a huge thanks to all that served, and continues to serve our country to protect our freedom. I was fortunate there were no conflicts or wars occurring requiring my reserve unit to be activated during my time. I would have gone if called.

ORT WIFE and RickG Thank this.

I bet you're quick to grab benefits and enjoy the freedoms men are willing to fight and die for aren't you ? You talk about what sickens you , I'll tell you what sickens me - cowards that use politics for an excuse not to serve . If you aren't happy with the policies of this country buy a one way ticket out . There are ships and planes leaving daily .

The gift God gives is men that are willing to fight . Maybe you better do a little Bible reading and see how many died under the sword by God's instruction . In many cases it included all women , children and animals .

Moose, I understand that you would use force to protect your home and family.

    How about:

If there were a band of thugs that over ran a neighboring town, and the authorities of that town asked the brave men of your town to lend a hand, would you be a wimp and run away? Even if the sheriff of your town pointed a finger in your general direction and said, "You guys, let's go." Turn your back and run? After all, it's not your fight. Why get involved?

While it's a fact that Truman set up the fight by not giving the entire country to Ho Chi Minh back in '47, Ho was, even then, a comunist. But he was also OUR senior OSS and Resistance agent during the war. Splitting the country in two and giving the French the southern half (because they asked) turned out to be a bad idea, too. It's also a fact that S. Vietnam asked for our help, and it really was mostly our fault (although it confounds me as to what we could have done different).

It requires bravery to do that stuff when under fire, even if a lot of them didn't volunteer. They did it anyway. Because the "Sheriff" said, "Go". That we lost is the fault of the boneheads in Washington DC, our troops won every battle.

You, sir, are an ill-informed coward. I'm proud to have served, to have protected your sorry butt, anyhow.
