Sitting here @ a sams club and watched a wrecker come hauling in, thought they called him to tow me out lol..
anyway, he backed up to a swift trailer lifted it and blocked one side of the landing gear and took off..
easy call for that guy, huh.. wonder how much swift paid for that 5 mins of work..

Which DC do you run out of? I used to work out of the Corrinne UT DC, do you know if Swift lost that contract? Drove to Vegas and saw a whole lot of Schneider trucks pulling Wal-Mart where the Swift trucks used to, made me wonder if the contract was lost.

Im otr that gets pinched on wal mart loads every so often. From what i see swift runs a ton of their loads. I see other carriers run them as well.
Was asked to run dedicated for um, but i declined. I like otr better. That and i didnt want to move.

Swift still has Corrinne. I did a load for them a couple of weeks ago. Vegas is ping pong ball. CRE did it out of Fernly, then Swift was/is doing it out of Corinne and Schnieder is doing it, I believe, out of Riverside.

Driver might have been instructed by Sam's Club to drop the trailer there. Sam's Club may have also paid for that wrecker to come out.

Either way, though, wreckers typically run $100/hour and up. That's from the time the truck rolls out until the call is complete at the very least...sometimes, the company will figure into the bill the time it takes to return to the yard, and if the call is "after hours", the clock starts when the call is placed, NOT when the wrecker leaves...

On the scene for 5 minutes, probably got billed for an hour....unless whoever placed the call had some sort of agreement worked out. Like any other business, if you perceive the possibility for a great deal of future business...or if you already have the account and you're in the area anyway and want to keep that account happy...then breaks can and will be given to get/keep a client.

Schneider hauls about five loads per week from this DC. It's an agreement they have with WalMart to keep from having to deadhead out.
