I have decided I want to go to commercial driving school, my life is finally in a postion that I am able to go full-time without having to work.
After doing research I am leaning toward applying at Interstate. They will let me bring my dog and have many female drivers there ( I am female).
My driving record is fine, no felonies or drugs. No points.
But my history is this:
First:
I worked at Louisiana Pacific for 5 years.
Then I owned a cleaning business in the bay area for 13 as well as worked at the Oakland Coliseum for 6.
But in 2000 I quit all that to get a degree in Network Systems Engineering.
I got the degree but it was a bad fit. I hated being cooped up in the server room with the admin during my internship. I knew partway thru that it wasn't for me but I didnt want to quit in the middle.
In the 3 1/2 years since I graduated I have just had piecemeal 8-9$/hr jobs that aren't even worth mentioning and that I didnt stay at all that long.
A person in the industry told me to say that I have been a home maker in the last three years.
What do ya all think....? Will I be blacklisted?
How strict are they on work history?

DOT must have verification of employment for the last 3 years. You can either verify it wih employers certifying it, through tax returns, W-2s 1099s or a few other ways. You definitely need to show it all for CDL school for the last 3 years. I had a major oragn transplant in late 2005 and I have a leter from the clinic explaining I was unable to work for a year and a half. That is sufficient. Most companies want to verify for the last 10 years. They do look for consistency, but most would rather you reveal inconsistencies and explain, rather than concealing it. I would suggest you list everything (all the here and there jobs) and make sure that you explain, just as you have here, why you had multiple employers in a short period. My theory is that it's better to come clean and explain up front, rather than get a call, 2 weeks, 2 months or 2 years into your employment, asking you to call your DM, who then informs you that you are immediately terminated for lying on your application. Then that would go on your DAC and you would be in a heap O hurt and backballed. Just tell the whole truth and explain. Somebody will be sypathetic.

Yeah....
after I posted thought I should email the recruiter at Interstate and just tell them the truth... see if they will hire me before I even try to apply.
I hate lying... -
I've read more than once of a driver being fired after being hired. And I don't understand how something can come up later after going through a background check extra. Anyone have an answer or opinion on this ?

I knew a guy who had close to 15 different jobs over a 3year period and he managed to get hired, infact he got a few offers from different companies
