Having read this entire thread from beginning to end I found it to be full of great info as well as a bunch of half truths. A few things i wanted to comment on.
There has been an increase in company minded individuals coming to JCT as the companies they work for cut the miles they were getting. Yes we stay busy here, but as "business" owner there is more to being profitable in this industry than just running miles.
Many have paid off their trucks and to my knowledge only a few have been heavily encouraged to trade their older trucks in on a new lease. And those have always been trucks that were constantly breaking down and leaving the driver digging a bigger hole.
This Company is not perfect as none are. But it is a company that remembers that the driver is part of the team, and the drivers that remember they are part of the same team and have a bit of business sense do well here.
I have been here nearly 5 years and have not once wished I had never become part of JCT, but i have often wished i had come over sooner.jbizzle Thanks this. -
I don't know, butt I do know I can spend $80,000 in payments put to better use

I am not a fan of L/P myself but after reading not only this topic but many others here as well. I find myself wondering something. Is the reason why so many people fail at the L/P plan because they dont want to run as hard as they need to,to make money? I mean, when you own your own truck...unless you get on with a really good company...you have to run hard to make money. You cant run a week,go home for a few days and make enough to cover everything that goes along with being a business owner. You have to stay out and run your butt off! No disrespect meant to anyone.
Even running for FedX CC making really good money,we had to stay out for weeks to cover everything and still make a nice profit. Sure when times were good we could run a week and make $5000 to $10000 but after we paid for all operating costs and set aside for unforeseen break downs and for monthly expenses,we nearly went in the hole. But when we stayed out for a month+,that profit went way up. -
In my experience more people fail at L/P because of not having the right mindset. They come to a program like John Christner and want all of the perks (time off when they want, for as long as they want, faster truck, dictate/choosing loads like it was a travel agency, just to name a few) of being an O/O without the responsibility. In the end they still have a job, not a career/business. They dont run their trucks as a business or an investment, and have little or no budget personally or business wise.scottied67 Thanks this.

I just got offered a job at JCT im pretty excited about it. I think any business you have there are up and downs. I be been at CRST for a year and I cnt get any worst off. So are the trucks governed. And if they are at what speed. Those guys who have work here any advice.

There is nobody more cliche than the "fleece purchase is a joke" guy. I mean, yeah, alot of people fail at it, some succeed, usually it's beneficial to the company, blah blah blah. I work for a company myself, but never discourage those who want to try it. I just don't get off on laughing at those who lease and fail or ridiculing those who are thinking about doing it. There are a million posts here on how bad it is; let's stop beating a dead horse. Just had to get that off my chest.
