I have to start reefer but i would like to make it over to tanker eventually, i read all your posts from when you went through school it got rid of alot of the nerves its always nice to know what to expect so thanks for that.
-
No problem. Nerves will come with it lol I still get nervous sometimes lol Especially when it hits me Im responsible for a $100,000+ truck, $50,000+ trailer, plus a load. Its a lot of responsibility when your in control of something this big that could kill a lot of people if your not careful. Just pay attention, n dont jump in the sleeper to grab something...lol
-
Not so much the responsibility of the truck an cargo but that i need this job and i stress on all the factors like BMI, testing, backing, and things like that that are making me nervous, mostly like i said because we really need this job, im slowly losing everything that we worked so hard for after my wife lost her job and my job doesnt pay a whole lot and we need the insurance thats why im stressing.

Ease back on the stress, that's a sure way to raise your blood pressure. If you are worried about your weight, start doing something about it. As a male, you can drop a significant amount of weight, perhaps 5 - 10% of your current weight, safely between now and then. Just stay away from overeating at the upcoming holidays, reduce your sodium intake, increase your water intake. And increase your activity level.
Start studying NOW for the permit test. I'm sure you will do fine. -
You can download the CDL manual for MO. I atleast had it on my computer. Also take practice tests online. Their free and help a lot. I wen to cristcdl.com, but theres others also. If your worried about weight, do what DTB said. The testing... Just listen to your instructor. If he is good, then he will know how to teach you how to meneuver one of these things. Just rememember, when your backing, your not driving the truck, your driving the trailer. The backing menuevers are pretty easy if you follow the steps for getting it in. A lot easier than a lot of the backs in the real world. Take your time n let all the information your going to be given sink in. Dont rush shifting. Unless the rpms n road speed are correct, no matter what you do that truck isnt goin in that gear.
cholosgirl Thanks this. -
Been working on the weight thing im at 31% now just wanna be under 30 so i dont have to do the sleep study, switching jobs is hard for me im excited to be able to do something ive always wanted to do just dont wanna mess it up! got a lil man and a wife who are counting on me.
-
Switching jobs is hard. I left a secure, steady job to come follow this dream. Got to follow your dream, or you wont be happy.
-
I'm not sure, but I think the sleep study is a BMI of 39, not 30.
-
The sleep study is based on more than just your weight. You know this, right?
