Go get you an external speaker. They come with about 8 - 10 ft of cord. Mount your new external speaker near your radio, or if your dash runs down hill, just lean it up against the window. The point is you want 5 - 6 ft of extra wire. Wrap the extra wire around the external speaker, use a bread tie or wire tie to keep it there. I can not explain, technically, why this works, but it works for me and several others I know of. If I remember correctly, I've had issues with stock mics squealing worse as opposed to the RK 56/Astatic noise cancelling mics also.

When a radio has been peaked and tuned improperly, they will often squeal like a pig as well.

Do you have another mic to try? It could be a short in the mic cord.

If your getting squealing problems it's almost always going to be grounding issues causing it like Tech10171968 pointed out.

You can try ferrite beads...But I have not had much (if any) luck with those.

AS for the external speaker, I have seen guys put these things way in the back of Suburbans, just to keep them from squealing...This is just plane dumb...

"Whats the point of having a external speaker, if you have to have it 18' away?"

I have my external speakers right next to the radio, and even with my Amps turned on and pushing anywhere from 1200w's (in my work van) to over 3500w's in my Suburban, and I don't have any squealing going on with the Talk Back on or off...

    It's all about grounding....

By the way, the external speakers I use are not the most expensive ones out there...One is a Ranger, the other I think is a Spark-O-matic...no squeal...

Here is how my radio is hooked up in my work van...Radio, SWR/Power meter, and external speaker all mounted on a pedestal, with a 2x6 Amp sitting right beside in the floor! (Amp is no longer sitting there tho, I moved it to the back of the Van later...that was just temporary)

The mic if new. My old Cobra mic did the same squeal.
I'll try the external speaker as I was wanting one anyway.
