ok this is a bit of a side note but, if you are hauling up there. If you are going to eat I assume you must bring your own food on the truck with you or are there some places along the roads to eat.

Sorry I dont get online enough to keep everyone updated..I work in Watfordford City for Power Fuels & started last year Sept. straight out of a 3 week CDL school with absolutly no pryer Semi experience..I did have all my endorcements & did travel over 700 miles twice to meet the hiring guy just so he knew how seriouse I was to work for them..they get ALOT of aps faxed or mailed or sent online so face to face is best if you can do it and there are sooooo many Co. hiring that going right to work for someone is almost guarenteed....housing does suck & definatly not cheap so it is smart to bring your own housing ie:camper..travel trailer..motor home completly self contained is best especially in our winter monthsRV spots do open up all the time its just you need to be here and grab it quick...I lived in a 12x24 skid shack for a year until the town houses were ready and I pay 950 a month for a 2 bdrm 1 bth with a garage and it comes out of my check split every 2 weeks..PF is building a HUGE Apt. comlex and will start renting them end of Nov...not sure what other Co. do as PF is the only place Ive worked..I slip seated for a few months then got asigned my first truck last march(peace of crap.hahaha) but it still payed me alot of money every day then I was asigned another in Sept.(a bettter truck) but was just asighned a brand new Kenny with less then 275 miles with 8 ways and a brand new vac trailer which I love...I have made a few videos of my days and the roads(sometimes goat trails) we travel they are 95% scoria and sloped odd and narrow definatly cheek pinchers but I love it..winter is definatly a character builder but you dress appropriatly and drive ALOT slower....PF just bought a few rock trucks(bottom/belly dumps) so we can haul our own rock..bottom line is there is all sorts of jobs even if you get one your not real happty with it will keep you going till you find what you want...shoot even McDonalds is paying 15.00 an hr...hope this helps..I love my Job and love what I do so this may be a predudice opinion but Im glad I packed up and made the move..Good Luck to everyone..times are hard but here it can be made a bit easier if you can stick it out...
Ben Gunn, vmaggs, Kowboyfromhell and 5 others Thank this. -
My husband went to work in the Williston area about 6 1/2 weeks ago. I was going to fly up there for a visit. I found a decently priced airfare. However, I couldn't find a hotel...looked all over....even Bismarck...SOLD OUT. Oh well. We're really really lucky that he has the company housing (shares with his co-workers).

your letter is interesting the weird part is that there requirements said 2 years exp, when i apply with them on may 12 . it looks to me that they can waive insurance policies and requirements -
I have had my CDL for one year, Ive done OTR for a bottom Feeder now I drive a tanker for a bottom feeder, Ive been doing a lot of research on ND. I really would like to get on as a driver up there but Im Facing the same BS answers as the students .2 years exp to start. All because CNN MSNBC and all the others blew the whistle on the best kept secret in America, Now its supply and demand, They dont have to give me or any of the newbies jobs cuz there are 100 guys in line for the job. Two years? really? give me a break. whats gonna happen in the next year that is going to prepare me better for the Oil patch, Ive driven MRAPS in Afghanistan in the dark off road looking at a small screen with no parif. while being shot at, Ive driven in blizzards in this country where it was snowing so hard I had to turn my headlights off to see where I was going. I learned how to drive in the snow on the shores of Lake Ontario where im originally from. So this 2 years of exp BS is just that! Yeah I know Im not as good as you Oil patch guys but it seems to me the best way to learn how to deal with what you guys go through on a daily basis is to DO IT. When my Country asked me to do a couple combat tours they didnt ask me if I had 2 years exp first. Thanks for letting me vent . I WILL Persevere.

I do feel truelly blessed that they took a chance on me and even as short as a year ago they and everyone else were very desperate for drivers that Im sure some things were over looked and to my benifit I had all my endorcements and had been told that my possative attitude helped alot and now they have alot more aplicants and can be more stringent and picky on hiring..I do wish all who are trying to get work over here alot of luck because I know what its like to worry about where my next pay check was going to come from..Best Wishes to all
MoneyCat Thanks this. -
