OpenRoadDreamer,
Just wanna touch base with you. I have been reading your threads and post for the past week. Very good info. I'm schedule to be in Springfield, MO on 5 Dec 2011 for orientation. I already have my CA CDL PERMIT. I have a question for you as far as the holidays: Will there be instructors for the XMAS holidays? I did some homework and it looks like I should be behind the wheel by the 2nd week of December with an instructor? Just need to know if the pace / training slows down during the holidays? Keep me posted..

Well, ORD having started in May hasn't been through a holiday season yet. I know HE is staying out. I know that JCW is staying out, but neither of them is an instructor. Some will stay out, some won't. There was an offer for some drivers to pick up around the 23rd, and go home under load, with the load being delivered the 26th or 27th. It's really just going to depend on who you get.

When I called my Prime recruiter a couple weeks ago, I asked that and was told they start new classes every week. My guess is those there might be off Monday, 12/26, and 1/2/2012, which are the legal federal holidays. But I wouldn't bet the ranch on it.

was scheduled originaly to start dec 19th, but rescheduled cuz im already hooked up with a trainer and he was gonna go up north for christmas and take 4 days off i would have been stuck on the truck for 4 days so instead i switched my dates. as far as BMI goes i just dont want to be over 30 just in case, im a worrier cant you tell.

Do not get lulled into a sense of comfort or frustration just because of the BMI. That number only uses two factors--your weight and height. The company docs will use many more to determine your health.

Prime is a huge multi million dollar company, they are not goin to completely shut down for a holiday. There maybe certain functions that dont operate on holidays, they may not test for instance, but someone will be there to handle business. Some of the instructors will still be out. The ones like me who have no reason to go home, no I dont instruct, might one day though. Given how close it is to Christmas, the class should be smaller. Will make it easier to get what instructors are available. Bottom line, if you make it through the week to Friday without goin back to greyhound, they WILL get you an instructor. Might have to wait a bit, but they will get you one. In the meantime, study the pretrip. A lot of students fail it somehow.

I have never seen the inside of a small Pete but it would be good enough for me. It means I have a job and a ride. Besides, everybody will be laughing at me no matter what truck when I "try" to back up at the TS.

If you will not let me park beside you how about letting me use your truck to learn backing? I do have some backing practice in a used Ford Pinto.
