DWI statistic's have proven for everyone ONE TIME a person is caught driving drunk he/she has driven intoxicated 40 times or more, for DUI its 80 times or more. So knowing this is NOT his/her first time driving drunk, just the first time he/she has been caught and the driver knowing the danger of his/her load (increased due to haz-mat) and deciding to drive anyway causing accident including property damage, thank GOD no deaths shouldnt his CDL be revoked for life?

Why don't people find jobs that fit their lifestyle?? I don't understand that part. You see that question on this forum alot. Someone that likes to drink alot or smokes pot wants to be a truck driver. A former bank robber want to be a bank teller. Someone that's scared of heights wants to be a carpenter. Find a job that matches you.

One problem with trucking is many find it as an easy out to make money. They never prepared for a career. They drank and partied their youth away. Then one day they wake up, what can I do? Hmmmm, I can flip burgers, work in a factory or I can make $50K a year driving a truck. The industry needs to be more selective on who they hire.

Sure, why not ? You don't think the driver made the "call" to bring the alcohol into the truck without considering the consequences? .....

The driver screwed up big time, no question about it. The driver will pay for it, no question either. And the driver didn't think at all....no question about it, a complete lapse in judgment. yes?

Thanks, didn't know that. Scary, since I trained the driver. I never saw anything ( in training ) to suggest this behavior. I am the son of a drunk, I know the signs, I saw nothing.

And on your part two question? I agree. I can't share the details yet but in this case, I would pull the CDL for life. There are other factors involved that make it worse than it already sounds....... like when the chemical shipper finds out the driver was drunk, had alcohol on his property.

Its not all bad. He can stay in the industry if he wants. He can clean toilets at the TA, or be the guy who empties the trashcans around the truck stop. Better make him push a dumpster around, cant trust him with the golf cart.

Yes, one of the biggest if not the biggest and not my co. My former co.

And yes, gonna be some sore arse for sure. Knowing the account like I do the driver in question had to make several contacts in the facility including security....... and the proximity of the accident to the facility says the driver had to consume the alcohol in the facility. No other way likely. Takes facility 2 hours to load and process you.

Shipper is a core customer for this carrier. Shipper leaves carrier , it's going to hurt. BUT, shipper is cheap and loves money, profits. Definitely going to be a love-hate relationship inside shipper over this. Depends if shipper can find other cheap carrier big enough to handle the shippers needs.

    And it is contract time.........
