Need help making up my mind between the two. Both have offered this newbie a job but Im not sure which one to go with. Any advice from an experienced trucker out there? Thanks.

Schneider would be my choice.. I think they would have more to offer you later in your career if you chose to stay for any length of time witch i would suggest to do.

I recently accepted a conditional offer from them, went for my pre employment drug screening yesterday, now just waiting for the results.

I drove for May Trucking for 3 years. Nice power equipment for the most part. Their dry vans were beaters. I got lots of miles (2800+/wk) running the 48 reefer division. The dry van division was slower (1500-2500/wk).

I didn't like their idle policy. You have to get authorization every time you idle the truck otherwise they'll take a cut of your check if you go over a certain percentage ( I don't remember the number). The driver facilities were a joke. If you don't like unloading, you'll hate their nursery loads (reefer). Same with their 'dollar store' loads.

I got along well with the Payette staff and made decent pay during my stay. That was back in 2002-2005. Things likely have changed somewhat since then.

So what was the condition they imposed on ya'? I turned them down, cause the condition was that I couldn't drive for no one else too.. :biggrin_25523:
