I have a pair of Irish Setters as well. Great boots. Mine are 7 years old. After going through many brands they were the only ones that could handle keeping your feet dry riding through a thunderstorm on a motorcycle other than purely rubber boots.

I need to get mine resoled though. I wore them when I was on crutches for 2 years so one sole wore down and the other didn't. Always feel like I'm leaning at an angle.

If you're going to be haulng petroleum products wear good rubber gloves. You're going to get product on your hands at some point; that's a guaranteed fact.

one of the best pair of boots i have ever owned are made by Rocky and it is the Bearclaw line. waterproof and insulated and non slip. hands down as good as a pair gets.

now if you want a pair or tennis shows that are good, i have a pair (my second pair in 2 years btw) from walmart made by Brahma that are steel toed, water proof and slip resistant and made of leather.

i was in little rock this past week in all that rain at coca cola. had to walk all around that slick conrete floor in the warehouse and had no trouble at all. i also had to walk in 2 inches of water to get to the ladder at the dock. feet stayed warm and dry.

the rocky boots come in different makes, and the bearclaw like is a mid calf boot, so you can be in snow or mud or water or whatever and stay dry as long as it doesnt enter the top of the boot.

I've noticed one thing about boots !! If your feet are hurting , the longer and harder your day is and delivering petroleum you're on your feet most of the day !! Thanks guys for the comments and I'm definately listening. Oh since I don't have to wear steel toe anymore I have more options to choose from. I did 41 hrs in 3 days this wk and my feet are killing me right now...

All the more reason to try Merrell's. I broke 4 Metetarsal bones in my left foot while on active duty. Its rough being on my feet so no cheapo boots for me. I tried Timberlands, rocky's , wolverines etc. After work boots are worn for 6 months, the heels and soles become solid blocks of rubber and offer little slip resistance or comfort for me.

7 layers of insole. very comfortable. They are not steel toe. The pointed toe makes using peddles a bit easier. They are made in the USA.

You are exaclty correct, the lower price offerings may be made in China but you can still get the great quality ones made in Portland,OR too.

I bought a pair a Catipillars (sp?). Steel toed, wellington style, great grip. Felt like a pair of tennis shoes. Wore out after 9 months of climbing milatry rigs, outdoors 9 hrs a day. Would be a good average trucking boot @ $140/pair.

I'm totally commited to Redwings. Redwing Diamondback Peco Supersoles to be exact. You're gonna pay for them (cheapest I've found were $185) but you'll have a boot that'll last a loooooooong time. I wear mine every single day and I get 3 to 4 years out of a pair.
