My company had a contract with Ontario Power Generation which operates all the electrical generating facilities in Ontario. (Canada) This includes two nuclear plants. Post 9/11 they went double gonzo with security. From the time you arrive on site till you pass through vehicle and personal security takes about one hour or more some days. You are told ahead of time to have nothing in your cab or trailer that is not needed to perform your job. No food either. This includes books, magazines, clothing etc. A co-driver of mine was not informed of all this and he had a huge collection of skin mags in his bunk. The security guard came into the drivers inspection area with this huge bundle of nudie books in his arms. Needless to say.....my co worker was a bit embarassed.

    My wife and I
went to a nuke plant in Il. earlier this year.
Got pre clearance on us both. Hard part is, she is not a U.S. citizen. Has her "green card"
They looked in the trk. and my tarp box and headache rack. Took 20 mins. apx.
Been to others, where they want everything out for insp.
I think it just depends on the location.

Whiteman AFB is fun to get into but at least they're quick about it.

ExXon Mobile in Port Allen, LA. I hate places that do that ####. Some even want to look inside. Screw that. Thats invasion of my privicy although my truck is always clean and I have nothing to hide. Maybe my make believe demon will crawl out from under the truck and attack them while they are climbing up on the step.
