Showcase Enterprises...what can I say? I found out about them from a call made by my wife while I was working for Florilli. I got a call one day and It was the boss/dispatcher/co owner and he asked me if I would be interested in working there. Set up a time to meet with him and ####...I was hooked.

Met him at his home where he dispatches out of, and talked for over an hour and a half.

What kinda trucks you run? Kenworths..

Pay? Percentage of load and extra incidentals that arise. Company card for fuel and card for emergencies and truck expenses.

    Governed? Nope..

Maintained? Absolutely..by KW in Ft. Wayne and Pac Lease.

How many miles you run a week? Whatever you can log and I have loads for..

    You run legal?? You better...

You go to Grocery wharehouses? Only if they are being built...

How often do I get hometime? Every weekend, sometimes Fri to Sun, sometimes Sat to Mon..how long is up to you and time you get home and how loads work out, but at least a 34 hour restart minimum.

Do we use lumpers? NO..customer unloads or you tailgate or drive off. And tail gate means just use your pallet jack we provide and take it to end of trailer...period. Just be mindful of securement and be safe. We provide ratchet straps and adjustable lock bars in trailers that have e tracks. You may have to brace or strap, but you cant just sit on your butt and do nothing in the cab.

Fuel? Pretty much wherever you want as long as its in the approved fuel guide, you decide where and when....but stay the hell out of Pilots and Loves. Prefer Petros and TA's.

    Tolls/Scales? Prepass and EZ Pass
You use computers on truck? Nope, all phone and email and some drivers exceed and have a smart phone/droid.

Easiest job Ive ever had and no reason to complain. With the support and tools my bosses give me, I could never imagine working for anyone else, even myself. This is as close to being an owner/operator without actually owning the truck. Anyone else would be hard, cheap work.
Gotta say, I get paid well. Not Taj Mahal rich, but definitely pay my bills and can get a McyD burger now and then. I work hard and play hard here and I am so glad to have found a company that "actually cares" about its drivers. My bosses will just call once in awhile to chat and see how i'm doing. I even know of a driver here that fell ill in PA and couldn't drive and had to go to the hospital. The boss and a driver went to PA and picked him up and brought him home, and helped care for him the year he couldn't drive, and when he was well enough to drive again, gave him his job back. If that isn't driver oriented, I don't know what is. I don't expect to be treated like a King here, but I can see respect when its in front of my face. The other boss will get out there and truck freight with the rest of us, not just sit on his butt if a truck is empty or if for some reason we have too much freight and he leases a truck to cover that freight. We have company get togethers/meetings with a heck of a food spread provided by all the drivers and drivers wives. Even get on group motorcycle rides if you got a scoot. All of us are on a first name basis and we like it that way. As long as they will have me, and remain in business, I'm staying. We got about 18 trucks, and could add another if one is motivated to work and excell and not be a complainer. Respect is earned here, not given. Must be motivated team player here.:mlaugh:

Just so ya know....lumping here means using your pallet jack and moving a set of doors to the tail so the forklift can unload it. We do many places like nascar venues, fortune 500 offices, schools, ect and many times a dock is just not available at a jobsite. I would say, my actual tailgaiting is less than 15 or 20 %, and thats IF Im hauling for our main account. No biggie, and if I was to get a stack that was a "little" heavy, a worker will push it as i steer the jack..easy work my man! That work falls under the incidental extras and many times i am paid well for it. Beats that $10 stop pay or $40 unload pay at "cookie cutter" outfits.:biggrin_25525:

The laziness of some truck drivers is baffling.

No, we don't have a website as we are so small, but we are listed on the internet as far as trucking companies in our area. We consider those that have safe driving records, willing to work, clean and smell nice, ect courteous and professional to others and our customers. Actually shaking a customers hand and thanking them for letting us haul their freight is a big plus in keeping them as a customer. The owners provide embroidered polo styles shirts for you as well. It also helps and is highly recommended that one would live in the Columbia City area here in Indiana as the boss likes to have all trucks in on the weekends so we can get a 34 hour restart.
