But I like my APU...shes been a good truck...I will be near Marshfield later this week so maintence is going to take a crack at it.....hopefully its something minor that I am missing when I look around (I am a green suit mech and used to working on army trucks)... I am keeping a close eye on her if she starts doing really weird crap..breakdown will get a call...(I know a guy who quit about a month ago that they put 3 turbos in his truck...it kept blowing them one right after another..)

Mine have started to plummet as well. Called in and they're noting it but not sure why. They'll look at it next time I'm thru terminal.

I picked my truck up in Marshfield in Aug. 06 Columbia with about 460*** on it and I have been stopping in terminals for repairs like its a religion! I run flatbed and this thing was tanked when I got it from VA. The previous driver did not care about this truck at all, and I have been trying to take care of her. But I believe she is to far gone to bring back, but I am not looking forward to not having that APU! I am leaving the house tomorrow and I am getting routed to Marshfield out of the house for more repairs....:biggrin_2552: and my mileage has gone to crap as well and blowing black smoke, and it back fires once in a while...changed fuel filter and religiously doing pre trip and post trip while other drivers laugh (don't bother me though, I know I am doing whats right!) Calling FM and Maint. when I leave about the black smoke and back fires...I'm thinking either rings are going or dropping an injector...or both :banghead:

Also keep in mind that they have only two guys in Marshfield that process the new trucks into service. One does the electronics and the other does the decals. This means it takes time! Then they have to move a seasoned driver into the new truck, at least this is what they should be doing. I've been hearing that brand new drivers have gotten some new trucks. In my opinion, that is a bad idea. One out of three new drivers will have some kind of accident, even if its just a fender bender in their first six months.

Well, beyond the accident statistics of new drivers, I think it's only fair that the new trucks be offered to the drivers that worked there longer anyways. As long as he gets a safe truck and not one that's overdue to be sold, I'll be happy!!.

I will be going to marshfield after saturday..I had my fleet manager send my permits there so i can grab them as I am passing through...I have to work my way back to florida by the beginning of december (army time) then she's gonna work me back to appleton or Marshfield to get my truck looked at (I delayed maint at my request so I can grab some miles before heading to florida)...so I am going to grin and bear it for awhile and keep on top of any other issues that just want to crop up...(when it rains it pours)....

Yea, every day we go in and out of the building there is always another brand new International getting the decal treatment. Its cool we get to see the work up close as we pass by. I'm hoping for a new ride when I'm done with Phase training, though I'm totally green to the job I'd take care of it like it was my first car (or kid, haha). I do agree that company vets should have first dibs, though. I'd be happy if I snagged one of the old ones with an APU for awhile, but then I'd be spoiled when I get a new one without it later:(

when I asked in Marshfield about the new trucks I was told its just as cheap to fix a new truck as to fix an old one so they were no longer holding the new trucks for the seasoned drivers and its the luck of the draw now

Yea USED to seasoned drivers new to the company would get better ones as well.. they seemed to have stoped that too cause I had ran into a few new to roehl drivers that had 5 to 10 yrs and would be in some old POS

Why aren't they putting APU's on the trucks right out the gate?
