What's Going to Happen?-Mexican Trucks

What predictions have come true?

 

I agree we need to stand together and stop them any way we can safely! Cuttin their air lines while stopped (kinda hard to do while their moving) will allow them to be unable to move period they would have to fix it before being able to move! I seen where they get tax breaks on the same fuel we pay out the ### for so maybe we take a little of their fuel when oppotunity is there! We are paying for their equipment to be upgraded to standards , we are paying for their black boxes which i hear we are going to be forced to get at our own cost! I am mad and we have to get together something has to be done or I give it 2 yrs and hundreds of american truckers will be pushed out. any ideas how to unite. Im not sayin hurt them i am saying we have to do something, I have called my senator but that does no good so what can we do? i just had a load taken from me (NO JOKE HERE) pulled back from a customer that said a mexican truck is coming in to get it and take it to mexico I was unloading in loredo but now no load. Monday he will pick up in WI to mexico. And I am left looking for another load.!! Mad yes and what can I do .. you tell me how we disput this ..

 

If I offened you with my first post i opologize I am not a violent person and I am an honest one I am just outraged that this is now in effect. It has be passed and it has already effected me is all! I can not see this being anything but bad news for the trucking industry as we now know it. Here is just one thread today i read in news :
Mexican trucking companies make fuel deals with the Mexican government to get huge discounts on fuel and fuel taxes from government. US truckers do not get such discounts.

I just want others take on this and any opinion how we as truckers can unite to do something?

 

Find it real hard to believe what you're saying about a Mexican truck taking your load buddy. Perhaps it was an American truck, driven by a Mexican American based on the border who took the load.

Mexican trucking companies do not make huge deals with the Mexican government on fuel and taxes. The Mexican government offers a subsidy to offset diesel costs, much the same way as Pilot, Love's and T/A offer fleets quantity discounts. Company I work for gets a $.58 cpg discount on purchases.

Suck it up! Get used to it! As Laura O'Neill of OOIDA said today, the tariff's have been hugely successful. They are out of legislative options to fight this.

OOIDA's request for an injunction was denied, and rightfully so. We are obligated to make this happen. And if you think a handful of Mexican trucks can cause any disruption of our industry, you really should educate yourself on the facts.

 

A handful will turn into hundreds we will all see this. And I dont believe any american driver is going to just suk it up. If you think this is just going to be accepted then you need to wake upo.

 

And hard to believe or not we were told a truck from mexico is coming to get this load cause it was going to be delivered by me to loredo then mexican truck would take the freight into mexico but now was told a mexican truck is coming to get it. I found it hard to believe too!

 

Disgusting that a trucker would advocate violence against another trucker just trying to make a living. People like you are a disgrace to the USA.

If anybody makes a threat of violence or if you see somebody up to no good, report them ASAP! Dial 911 and report them to the authorities. The lives of many others might well depend on being alert and proactive.

 

Indeed, have any? Nope. Mexican trucks are rolling safely across the border and American truckers still have their loads/jobs.

Where is all the doom & gloom that was predicted?

Are the guys in this forum aware that since rthe USA agreed to let the Mexican trucks in to the USA something like 30 trucks have crossed!!! The program is a dud!

 

I wouldn't say it is a dud Brucesmith. It simply is not turning out to be as the opponents claimed it would with their knowingly false predictions of doom and gloom and tens of thousands of "dangerous, unsafe" trucks crossing out border.

The Mexicans are ###### good businessmen. They are testing the waters and not committing their entire fleets to the program. As they become more comfortable that the program is not going away, and as they establish contracts in the US for backhauls back to Mexico, their participation will increase. But I don't forsee Mexican trucks having the presence the Canadians have.

And besides, their are thousands of Mexican trucks legally operating throughout the United States that are not part of the program.
