Does anyone work on Christmas or do I need to ask that time off with my carrier?? Also should I expect holiday pay?

Freight runs 365 days a year. You need talk to your carrier, and as for holiday pay, that's up to your carrier, but most don't pay drivers holiday pay.

as for x-mas,most companies consider that the 1 day they will get u home.i for 1 liked working it.the companies i worked for chipped in at least a little bit extra, plus buy u dinner.i also was with a co. where i was leased to that if u ran christmas week,u got .20cpm bonus which worked to good and alot of drivers wanted to work then.just check around.

We can work Christmas if we want. Get a bonus for it too. They will not force you to though.

Usually about 90%, maybe a little more make it home Christmas. It's a major deal for the planners and dispatchers trying to find everyone a load home. Some don't make it.

Many times, as a single person, I stayed out many Christmas's so fathers and mothers could get home to their kids.

New drivers can get home, but they are not top of the list. You can ask and the odds are you might get there. There's always a few that get stuck. Grin and bear it.

Usually if you stay out, they try to find you a decent long load that delivers the day after Christmas. Then you milk it and take your time. :)

One good trick is to time your off time the month before. Like I would stay out six weeks and time it so I would be off the first weekend in November. Come Christmas I would be priority getting home. Someone on a three week schedule can plan the same. Go home Thanksgiving and then stay out to Christmas.
