Blue Thunder... not Waggoneers. Rumor mill says Moyes is tied in with Blue Thunder somehow... 50/50 chance of there being some truth to it.

Can't own a business like Swift for 46 years and grow it the way he did without having his fingers in more than one pie. Wish I had his business acumen and timing. I'd be sitting pretty, too.

Argosies are still active in the fleet. Those who have them, for the most part, won't drive anything else. They love the durned things.

Swift got out of car hauling in late 2007 and sold off the parking lot fleet. Or, as much of it as they could. It just wasn't paying its own bills.

Hey Injun. I do know for a fact that I've seen (three times) a Swift logo-ed truck pulling a Swift logo-ed soft side car hauler. Twice times have been this year. It's always been on the freeway so I was never able to talk to the driver. I've also seen the Swift Motorcycle truck/trailer two times in the southern area of Georgia.

My oldest daughter is friends with him because of his interest and her high-level expertise in very expensive horses. In fact, they're in the same city this week for one of the major AQHA horse shows, the World Championships. She asked if I wanted her to "drop my name" to him. I told her he doesn't do the hiring, so no thanks. But it's nice to have friends in high places! :biggrin_25514:

Saw these two at the Phoenix terminal today. When I asked the mechanic what was up with them he told me that Swift was selling them.

Must be nearly 20 of these parked behind the flatbed parking row in Phoenix.

Those would make good expedite trucks, just upfit them with a roll-tite tarpaulin system and a liftgate on the rear and you would be set to make some money. Don't have a use for that lil flatbed thou.

Just got out of the Academy at PHX Iwas told those Argosy flatbeds were originally a dedicated drywall fleet when AZ was going thru the building explosion that has since died. They been sittin for a few years. Shoulda see the dust fly when when they get lit off! They're small inside too Like a daycab with a matress.

Just talked to a guy who has one of Swift's COEs. It's a 2009 Argosy with just under 250K miles on it. Not too bad of shape. He says he'll put MadJeeper's name on it for when he finishes training.

Told ya I'd hook ya up!

Just FYI, in case you change your mind about the Argosy, MJ. There's a Cascadia sitting on the bobtail line already set up with headache rack, tarps, etc...waiting for a 'bedder.
