My husband hit a deer monday night outside of OK City and punctured his radiator. He was able to get to the Loves a few miles away before all the antifreeze had drained out. Called breakdown and got towed to ATC Freightliner in Ok City. He arived there early tuesday morning. He was told that his truck would be in the shop by that evening. He went to a hotel for the night. Called at 5:00 this morning, was told that it hadnt made it in the shop yet but his was next in line. At this time he has been told that it wont be in the shop until this evening and that it would require a new radiator. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and these people at freightliner will not tell him anything. They are giving him nothing but attitude. There is another driver there as well that has been there since Saturday just to get a turbo replaced.
My husband is 695 miles from home and obviously not be home for thanksgiving. I am willing to make the journey from tuscaloosa, al to oklahoma city to spend thanksgiving with him but these @$$holes at atc wont even tell him or breakdown if he might posibly be done and able to leave before they close for thanksgiving. Can these people have a freaking heart and let us know SOMETHING???

I AM sorry your husband is having trouble. If he punctured the radiator, then he should know that he will need a new one. Turbos take up to a week, as to radiators. Sorry, it's part of the industry. Sometimes turbos are taking up to 2 weeks.

That being said, OKC Freightliner is not quite my favorite place either. If you want to spend Thanksgiving with your husband, start driving. Near as I can tell, they don't actually keep parts at the dealership, they have to order them in. He *MIGHT* get one today, but no guarantees.

And if he's as nice to the guys at FL as you are about talking about them, they aren't going to be in a big hurry. They are busy, getting all kinds of CRAP from every driver who has a truck in there. Think about it.

I'm not taking sides, but the two repairs you are talking about.....take a while, mostly to get parts in.

I do understand all that, however my husband has been very nice to them as he knows not to bite the hand thats supposed to be fixing your tuck. If these people would just have a heart and let us know if he will be done today or not, thats all we want to know.

yes it sucks, had a few encounters with dealership shops also. and being an ex-mechanic, it does surprise me that they can be that way. like they dont care to let you know what is going on.

If they have the part, maybe. If they don't. No, I'm sorry. In my experience (hubby has had both issues on trucks he's been in), they haven't had those parts in stock, and had to wait on them.

I wish it were different. We all do. Have T-giving when he gets home. The same as you would if he HAD to be out over the holiday.

Sometimes I come across as a Witch w/ a B. Sorry about that. But railing against mechanics bugs me, especially after twelve years married to one. (He's driving now!)

well, they finally had the heart to tell him that he will not be out today. so now we hope his company will pay for my gas instead of a bus ticket. it would be cheaper for my gas anyway. as far as waiting to have thanksgiving until he gets home.... we had a tough time last year at this time and it is very important that we are together tomorrow and for christmas this year.

just be safe out there db. hope you get to enjoy the holiday together. and dont count on company paying for you to get to him. consider it the price to be together. but, maybe. never know.
