Sounds good, but I think Guido, he's generally standin' down on the corner, wanted to sell me a pair of boots, said they were Redwings. Made in China by a bunch of school kids. Said that the poor kids havin' a hard time workin' cause it got so hot in their shop, sweatin' all the time. He only wanted $19.99 for them.

I sure would hope that yours lasted at least 4 years. I've got a pair of boots, that I got at the Wal-Mart back in 1995, still look brand new. Paid only $45 for them. Of course they haven't been out of the closet since 1996..:biggrin_2559:

I am pulling a flatbed and my boots really get a work out....I have a pair of Wolverine that are excellent and they have held up very well. I picked them up at tractor supply.
As for gloves, I just buy the ones at the Pilot....they only last me about a month....shorter time if they get wet.
I have purchased more expensive ones but they only last a bit longer so they are not worth the extra money in my opinion.

Come to think of it, if you're gonna be hauling fuel you might find Georgia Muddogs would work good for you. Theyre rubber up to just below the ankle with a leather shank. Diesel will eventually soak through leather. I've look at these boots several times but with the heat down here in Louisiana I dont think rubber would be a good choice. They also are insulated so I'm sure they'd keep your feet fairly warm. Just a suggestion.

I wear Carhartt boots year round up here in ND. been great boots for the last year warm enough for winter but not so warm I sweat all day in the summer. For gloves i like the Kinco deer hide ones for winter. they hold up great against the chains. In the summer i wear CLC tradesman mechanic gloves. They have thicker pads in the front to hold up much longer than cheep leather ones but still breathe

I'm open to suggestions from any one here for decent work gloves that you can wear in freezing temps. Thats one thing i cant handle when unloading outdoors.

I bought a pair of gloves when I used to work the dock and I think I got them from either Home depot or lowes..... they were insulated with a strap for your wrist to secure them from coming off. But if you work outside in the cold there is atleast from my experience no gloves that will keep your hands warm the entire 8hrs outside..... oh but me and the other linehaul drivers would buy those heating pads that u can put inside your gloves , and they worked good !! I think if you buy a thin pair of those school mitten type gloves and put your work gloves over top then that should give u more warmth !!

I try to be fashionable while on the road without giving up comfort. Here's what I use in the winter months.
