A couple of weeks ago, I left my job at McConnel Transport. There were a few reasons for this, not the least of which was that HR told me that to stay in my current truck, I had to make 2800 miles/week or they were going to put me in a beat up old Columbia. Next trip out, I only made 1700 miles in 4 days. That was just the way they dispatched me. So, I left on good terms and went over to Bestway Transport. Good little company, all truckers from the top down. Better pay, better miles, older well maintained equipment.

Today, my old company calls me "Just to say hi, and check up on ya." Oh, by the way, the boss says to tell you that if you want to come back, we have a brand new ProStar Limited here for you, along with a pay bump. (pay bump still doesn't match Bestway though) Or, if you want, maybe we can find an office job for you.

So I call my current boss cuz I figure he'll get a kick out of this. So HE says come October, my current truck is going back and they'll get me the truck of my choice, within reason.

WTF? I mean, it's good to be wanted, but I'm a little confused... dunno WHAT I should do now. Thoughts?

stay where you are now. you don't want to look like a job jumper and undependable. follow your heart, you know what you should do and only you can answer that question.

Just stay were you are at, they put you up against the wall once before what makes you think they wont do that again.

I agree with everyone on here, stay with the new company. Kinda stupid for a company to shaft you if you don't make the miles they demand you make, and they are the ones giving the miles. Plus, to threaten you down to a crappier truck is insulting....meat this quota or you get the Waste Management garbage hauler. AND then to call you a few days later offering you a newer truck? AND a pay raise? How many things can there possibly be wrong in this picture alone? lol

If your happy where your at, stay, especially since your new boss wants to keep you bad enough to give you a new truck this fall. Says something about your quality.
