Hey all, just a brief update to let everyone know I'm still truckin with Schneider. Training was good but being out on your own is still an eye opener and the things you remember in class or with a trainer seem to disappear when trying to remember them on your own *Laughs* But all in all still doing good and Schneider is treating me right and has been very patient with my rookie learning curve. I also have a very cool dbl so I'm sure that helps.

Unless things go haywire, I'm planning on joining the pumpkin patch kids in about 3 weeks. I've talked to so many recruiters, I can't remember one deal from the other. Does anyone out there know about orientation and training pay? The recruiter sent me a very complete description of what to expect..but left out the training pay part.

Papa Lion ~ So how is your first few weeks going at SNI?
-
I believe it is $400 a week until you go solo.

Thanks you guys. I appreciate your information and insights...planning to attend SNI orientation Dec 13 (gulp)

Im just watching this thread for now. Thinking of SNI when I ETS from the Army

Definetly Looking to go SNI when I get out of class. Between this thread and my cousin who said she drove for them for 2 1/2 years and loved it, I am quite persuaded to lean towards what sounds to be and excellent choice of company.

I'm still in CDL school...classroom is behind us...we have 11 drives before the DMV road test. I've done 7... Road test is in 9 days...I think everything is good. But, after my first time out in the city, my instructor said that maybe I should consider somebody besides SNI...because, he said , they're much more difficult than we (the school) are. He had unnerved me as I was driving thru the streets...shouting out corrections like a drill Sargent I forgot what gear I was in, forgot to use the splitter....it really left me discouraged. But the next night, I had spent some time asking Devine assistance..., watching you tube videos of shifting..and mentally practicing....it went much much better. It has been helpful to read Papalion's account of orientation and time I the road with his DT. I can't guarantee it, but I don't think I'll have to find a second choice to run with. Really looking forward to getting to Carlisle in 2 weeks.

Carlisle is a nice OC in my opinion. Have stopped in there a few times on different loads. People seem pretty nice, helpful, and friendly. Still very happy with choosing Schneider. When you are at Orientation it can seem overwhelming and while doing the on the road training they do I can't say it is any harder but Schneider has there way and that's how they want you to learn it. I think it's probably easier for new drivers because they don't have to unlearn old ways and what we learn from the school is still so new it's easier to adapt to the way Schneider wants us to drive. But saying that Schneider is much more difficult? Nope, I don't agree with that. Like I said I'm very happy I went with SNI and wouldn't change the decision even if I could do it all over again and go with another company. Pretty sure I'm a Live Orange Lifer. Be safe out there.
jakecat22 Thanks this.
