think that is one of those "if the shoe fits" statements because from what I've read here Krom's points make sense.

i don't see it as hacking the job.do you avg 1500$ per week flat bedding?if so you should ask for more because i think people that flat bed are getting the short end of the stick.with all the extra work involved.i may be wrong.but if your not making atleast close to that i don't see how it's worth it.

I like that, door closer. I did flatbed first when I was 23 and now that i am 35 and heavier I think I might just close some doors for a break. Anyone ever pick up steel pipe in that town in Kentucky just south of Cinnci, OH? They build a wooden frame around a load of pipe that is almost full height and then you have to tarp over the pipe and frame system. The funny thing is is the pipe was some of the rustiest pipe I have ever covered.

Lots of sitting at Majestic Steel in Cleveland, man I hated that place and that USG in Cumberland City, TN. Poly, I will never miss a role of poly in 30 mph winds. Or frozen tarps, lol.

All some people do is want to walk 50 feet and open the door. And that's fine for them. If you don't like to throw chains, throw straps, put on tarps you don't have to. There's all different kinds of trucking to do. If you don't like what one man does you don't need to say how bad it sucks. Personally I would retire before I would pull a reefer. But on the other hand I'm not going to post how bad pulling a reefer is. No matter what the job is there somebody that enjoyed doing it. You ever wonder why someone would want to grow up and be a proctologist.
