im a republican but i know it was reagan who deregulated the trucking industry which was the beginning of the end for many union trucking companies.

it was reagan who fired the air traffic controllers when they went on strike
you must lobby your republican congress person to eliminate subsidies for big ata trucking companies to train drivers every year if you want better pay and government out of trucking
dont make things dangerous for the public

My hubby is getting pretty good money where he's at too. He's got some experience though, and he has earned his pay level . . . good service, on time, treats the folks at the shippers, receivers and at the company well, and gets his job done. That's how ya get the good money!

Okay. What will you agree to work for?

    $12 or $22 an hour ?

NOW this is a valid question. And it is one that WILL be argued in the very near future.

Let me take you down this path we are headed toward.

EOBR is coming to ALL carriers.

Once implemented. The "socialist party" will claim victory. They will start arguing that we now have a way to confirm/track driver work hours. And since we can now validate the actual work day of a driver. We should deregulate/regulate trucking when it comes to drivers being paid by the mile or by the hour.

Owner ops may choose to drive by the mile, if they wish. But companies will be forced to pay by the hour.

Where will you draw the line in the sand?

Companies will argue for $10 an hour, plus overtime. Then settle for $12 an hour....no overtime. Or offer salaried positions. Lobbying Congress about the undue hardship that "overtime" will put on them.

As a driver, we all know #### well we can make $20 plus an hour while driving.

Again, where will you draw the line in the sand?

    $10 hr plus overtime?
    $12 hr zero overtime.
Salaried position ---think low ball when you consider it.

Or the Holy Grail -- $22 hr plus overtime.

This argument is coming. Get ready for it.

A slippery slope....may include a razor blade with a pool of rubbing alcohol.

You seem to think that socialism will be the bringer of all this.

It basically comes down to the capitalistic nature of the dollar that will bring the downfall to this.

The corporations fought to make truckers exempt from overtime.

If the EOBR does lead to the implementation of the hourly wage, it will be fought tooth and nail by the corporate bigwigs.

Ever wonder why the freight rates are so low? Not because of socialism.

Then why is ever socialistic country failing. Every country that adopts capitalism, prospers.

The reason our country is hurting now, is because of out movement towards socialism.

You think they are moving to socialism, while I see proof that the demise is coming from capitalistic reasons.
