Restricting trucks to the right lane only is a STUPID Idea. Imagine the gridlock if drivers actually obeyed this stupid law....
no trucks or cars could enter the freeway at times of heavy traffic.

As a 4-wheel driver, I think lowering the speed for trucks is just about as stupid as can be.

I don't have a lot of power in my little car, but it's enough to drive the speed limit, there's nothing left for passing.

If I get stuck behind a truck that's driving the "truck speed limit", I am in danger in a lot of ways. I don't have enough power to pass him and if I try, it's iffy if I can get past him before there's on-coming traffic.

If I stay behind him, he might not see me, or he might feel responsible for my safety and that puts a burden on him.

Also, if I stay behind him, other over-taking traffic now has to pass 2 vehicles instead of one and that presents another danger.

    Who thinks up these ideas.

Some other thoughts on this stupidity. Trucks are better maintained than most cars. Trucks have bigger engines and there's lots of anecdotal evidence to suggest that there is more fuel efficiency at higher speeds in trucks. I could go on.

And what do they think they are accomplishing by making trucks to slower?

They have similar laws like that in Italy. Truckers protest by running the autostradas nose to tail, essentially blocking exits and entrance ramps.

Does Penn have a move left for emergency vehicles on the shoulder law? Talk about a contradiction.

I think there should be a federal law to prohibit states from having a separate limit for trucks! It's my wish that one day truckers will actually come together and stop making deliveries until we could get some respect! Wouldn't take too long...

To see what happens when you have split speed limits, go here liveleak.com/view?i=13f_1188186410

A pickup truck rear ends a Central Refrigerated Truck in Joliet,IL on I80. I find it very hard to believe that the people in that pickup were not killed.
