My Advice

For all of the new or potential drivers that come on here looking for advice on this company or that company remember the advice you get on here can be very objective and useful or it could be tainted and untrue. I equate this to the game they had us play in grade school where one person starts out telling a story then the next one continues and so on. In college we did the same experiment but with a factual story that we were to pass on to one another. By the time it got to the last person some of the facts still remained but were completely rearranged. I guess what I am trying to say is to do your due diligence. This is your career, do not base it off of the advice of a stranger completely. One of the good resources is the CSA website carrier search @ http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SMS/Data/Search.aspx
You can type in any carrier and see where the sit in rankings and compare those to other potential companies. Why? You ask. Because when you roll through a scale or are pulled over you will be scrutinized all the more if your company has a high percentile ranking. That means more time sitting at the roadside and less time driving. And while you are sitting there that 14hr clock is ticking.
It doesn't matter big carrier or small they are all in there. Also for the publicly traded companies look at what the investors are saying. If they don't think the company is a good investment neither should you.
Then go find some drivers that currently work for the company. Try to find a good random sample (10) and use the simple equation of throwing out the two drivers that say the company can't do any wrong, and the two drivers that think the company they work for is run by the devil and the ones that fall in the middle should give you a real feel for how the company operates.
Most of all just use some common sense people and there are many resources for checking into a companies day to day business practices.
And people if you are not happy with your job just find another company or profession. If you hate what you are doing or who you are doing it for and continue to do it. Well........ Heres your sign
