Injector Cleaners?

There are a number of shops, like the one I use in Des Moines, that when they do an overhead, they use a flush/cleaner on all the injectors. That does about as good a job or better than anything you would shell out money for to put in the tank.

 

Why do you want to use an injector cleaner? Is there a problem with one? My motor and injectors went over one million miles with no additives in the fuel or oil. Fuel mileage stayed consitant the entire time. The only additive to ever go in my fuel has been and will always be anti-gel in the winter. Additives in the fuel or oil are expensive and do more harm than good in my opinion.

Acetone wether in a newer truck or an older truck is foolish. It is a harsh chemical that will break down any lubricity in the fuel. Tell me were thats good for injectors or pumps. Acetone will also breakdown your rubber fuel lines.

ATF is made to use in a completely different system. If it was good for injectors and the like don't you think the companys selling it would advertise it as an injector cleaner?

Change you oil and oil and fuel filter(s) on a resonable mileage interval. Then you won't have any reason to put any kind of garbage in you motor.

 

Acetone used as a fuel additive is to reduce the surface tension of fuel, thereby causing a more complete burn. But does the aforementioned negatives (of using acetone) outweigh the possible mpg increase? Probably so.
Acetone is cheap, look for it on the fuel additive label (won't find it). Wonder why?

 

FYI of u put 5 gallons of acetone in your fuel, your truck will run like a champion, BUT you will also need to replace your rings and cylinders afterwards. Acetone F##ks engines. Old school payback

 

Dont know if I would add that to a newer engine, especially one 07 or newer. Maybe back in the day, but not now.'

As far as gasoline additives, I can tell you that the absolute best thing to use is Techron. I was given this advice from a former GM service manager with 40 years in the business. Its not cheap, about 12 bucks for a bottle. One tank of gas and 350 miles later, my Ford Ranger ran good as new. The Techron dissolved or broke up all the carbon built up on the head that caused the compression to increase to a point that the engine computer could no longer advance the timing before the fuel air mixture ignited. GM actually uses the same stuff at the dealer to clean engines, its just comes in a blue bottle labeled GM Goodwrench instead of Chevron Techron at auto parts stores. I dont know if they make a seperate diesel additive, but Chevron does sell diesel with the techron additive.
In a nutshell, you get what you pay for. The 2 and 3 dollar bottles of GUMOUT and STP are just #####.

 

For everyone questioning additives and diesel conditioners and oil additives and the like .... look up some of the things Pittsburgh power has to offer... the government thinks it's ok to make a motor and to force the exhaust back into the motor and that's ok ... the exhaust is exactly that its exhaust and needs to exit the motor not go back in and get regurgitated... that's like take your #### force feeding you it everyday and saying you dont need anything to run better stop throwing up and acting sick you should run forever... to me anything you can throw in your motor especially these new ones to help clean out the soot and deposited #### that goes in and cant come out otherwise is a good thing... I use to use atf to clean injectors all the time... my last truck is still running and has over 2.5 mil on it...
These new ones tho need more than that ... I'll be putting a oil filtration system and a dirty kit made by Pittsburgh power and getting a tune and start using their chemicals in my fuel as soon as I save enough to get it all done...

Spending the $5 to $6k now will get me 9mpg or better and the fuel savings I'll see will be $10k or better a year and that will pay for itself over and over plus the fact that a rebuild wont need to be done till after 8 or 900k miles and the cost of which I'll be prepared for along with the next million I put on here will be easy and very beneficial...


Well that's my rant... I believe and see proof of what these chemicals they have now can do to save these motors from early rebuilds like alot of Cummins and navistar motors have had to undergo in recent history like 300k and u need a rebuild ... wth is that ?
