air going somewhere.....

    I'm a new driver but been around the block a few times. I'm trying to find out out everyting i can about this rig before I start running.

    01 Western Star, 60S detroit, E/F 13 speed. Truck runs great, stickered at 475hp @2100, pulls like a big dog.

    Problem is loosing air..... I found 2 leaking Suspension bags and relplaced all 4.

    When doing a brake check all apears normal.

    I've soapy water sprayed every air fitting I can find and cant find any obvious leaks.

    Am I looking for a check valve problem some where or what?

    also, watching the gages it looks like the reserve air leaks faster, any opinions?

    It could be leaking anywhere honestly. The easiest way to find a small leak like that is use pressure washer if you have one or take it to a car wash with a truck bay, soap it down from front to back, shut everything off and start looking and listening.

    How fast is your system loosing air? If this is one of those overnight or the next day things you will be chasing little air leaks forever.

    I used to find leaks on accelerating valve, inside dash, on seat bag, cab air bags... to many places.

    it drops 5 or 10 psi while driving the the compressor kicks in and it comes back up. parked it drops about 5 pounds an hour.

    plain old windex is what i use to find leaks. bubbles up real good. just spray on and stand back and watch the show.

    While driving, the suspension is using it. Every time the suspension compresses, it pumps air into the bags, and every time the suspension extends, it dumps air....so it is constantly adjusting the air inside the bags.

    ...and 5 psi/hour I wouldn't worry about. You are allowed 2-3 psi per minute.

    Look at the teflon braided line coming off the compressor then the next line that runs from there to the air drier... they get a lot of heat and can deteriorate.

    I just replaced the teflon line on mine after 1,730,000 and am replacing the one downstream from there on Monday.

    Put your ear to the brake canisters, too.
