I forgot to mention this all happened due to a worn motor mount on the right rear. Engine had raised under torque, cracking the flex pipe right at the band clamp.

a blown out flanfe gasket at turbo to manifold will give an awful squealing howl---
-
I just cracked my flex pipe a few weeks ago
-
How about a cracked charge air cooler?
-
I'm having the same problem with my turbo and the mechanic did change out the clamp that connects the flex pipe to the turbo but it still makes that air rushing noise.

i am a CAT certified engine tech and am working on a c15 with a squeal or screech at top rpm in park on right side of the engine. i suspected turbos of impeller to housing contact but did not find any damages. hard piping and hump lines bow up a wee bit when pedal is mashed to the floor. have not found and air leak on the boost circuit. going to reinstall turbos and check the aftercooler. by the way eng has to be at operate temp and standing on the pedal for it to make this noise and its not uniform.
-
Sure its not belts or fan hub bearings?
-
We have a KW with the 475 Cat and it does the same thing.. Since day one. It wistles not squeal or screech..
-
I never did figure out what was causing the whistle. The company didn't care, then I quit caring about the company. I have a local gig now

i just put all the guts back into the turbos. i welded up a rig to pressurize the ataac. i wish the belts or pullies were making this noise but so far i havent found it, i'll post what i find when i find.............................
