It's time to start paying attention to the Bridge Laws in the states. The states are apparently starting to actually enforce these.
My hubby got a ticket a few weeks back for being 10 inches over in the state of Florida. In Tennessee this morning, a driver's axle distance was being measured at a scale house. Guess they are not getting enough revenue from the other stuff.

Florida is 41 feet, but they will allow you to be over axle on the trailer tandems . . . that's direct from the guy that got my hubby.
deadeyetrucker Thanks this. -
I have told MANY guys about this over the past few months.
Seems they think it's ok to run around with a 53 stretched out to the back.
TN will get your attention for sure.
That "paper cup" sitting on the curb beside scale is not there by accident.......tscottme, volvodriver01 and Lilbit Thank this. -
Works great, until you go across the state line.
Not worth it in my book, except to get to a CAT within the state.Last edited: Nov 27, 2011

Everyone my hubby has mentioned it to has responded with 'Florida has a bridge law???'.
Depending on how heavy you are and how it's loaded, you will be over axle at 41' though. If I remember right, the allow 44K on the tail. I'd have to double check that number with my hubby though. He rolls into Florida at almost 80K a lot of the time. -
I love my spread axle.....
SHO-TYME, DrFlush, volvodriver01 and 5 others Thank this. -
However, gross weight is still 80k unless permitted heavier.Lilbit Thanks this.
