I cant speak for any other State but Oregon but I can say that I am educated, with a lot of good work history and no one was handing out jobs. I have a family and It is hard to be away from them. I have been gone 11 weeks so far, but the thought of keeping them warm, dry and fed is getting me a long fine. My wife is supportive and I am honest with my kids, they seem to be coping well so far.
A man has to take care of things at home, things that sometimes force him away from the home he is fighting to keep. My advice to you who are leaving fams behind is to make sure you have your affairs in order beforehand. There are plenty of guys on the road who have fams at home. As I said, maybe not what a family man like myself would choose first but currently it has been amazing to feel like I have the saddle back on the horse in this economy. It is what you make it. The magic 2 years OTR and your options in the trade seem to open up a bit. Hope it helps a listening ear somewhere. Shifty.

Diddle around getting over here to Maxton, only to find out they don't open receiving until tuesday morning!
Fortunately, this load was a hair over 3,000 miles so the week will be ok.
Now to head over to South of the Border and find that golf course!

Quick question - At what point do you go from .26 to .28 a mile? I was thinking that it was once you are out of grad fleet but I'm still not seeing .28. I have a call into payroll about this and also want to ask a few other questions concerning payroll.
To be honest, if I cant get some good answers, it might just be time to head back to Dallas and hand the keys back over to the company. -
Its 6 months after hire date if Im not mistaken, then .29 at 9 mo, .30 at 12 mo

Thanks for the help will contact the dr

Remember, as with any company (trucking or otherwise) there are more Chiefs than they need. Don't be so quick to make a rash decision. Alert them to your issue (using proper channels here would be prudent) and give them time to come up with the solution. You're probably right, they're probably late, but if you let them find the error with a modicum of fussing they're going to be quicker about getting you a retroactive solution you can live with. Granted .02 a mile isn't going to make for a huge check, but as you have noticed it does make a difference.

They were late with my raise by three weeks and I netted about $200 bucks in retro active pay. They'll get it straight, but you may need to gently cattle prod them in the correct direction once in a while.
What ever you do, don't make the mistake I made and quit without trying to work within the system and find a solution. I know it sucks, but in this day and age Obamanomics has really scalded the dog and none of us can make rash decisions without some serious backlash. Give it some considered thought and then plan a solution ... don't just make a decision.
TLeaHeart and nascarchuck Thank this. -
Hello,
I've been looking all of the internet for reviews regarding Stevens Transport and I'm disappointed that I can't find any positive reviews or information dated in the year 2011.
I understand that there are always going to be people who have negative things to say, but some of the things that is actually written on Stevens website, if it turned out NOT to be true I too would be in the negative group.
For example, is it true that they can make you drive heavier than you're supposed to or make you do things that are illegal? And then they will put it on your DAC report?
There website states that offer the best equipment where the average age in 12 months and they are all under warranty. So the feedback from one student that the trucks were old and smelly...is that a thing of the past?
I also saw someone post if someone else has ran a truck hard, damaged it any way and then you get it as a new student you will be responsible for the repair, that they will take the money out of your check (T-card)?
Do they make you sign something making you responsible for tickets? tolls?
I have worked in corporate America a long time and I know this type of thing goes on depending on who is running middle management. I would be interested to know if currently at Stevens will I have to "play the game" to get ahead or is it truly this family oriented, straight by the book company?
I'm a woman with a lot of integrity and I'm ok making a little money my first year to have the peace of mine that I can do things the right way my first year and not have to be afraid of pissing the wrong person off and then being crapped on.
Is making a net of $500/wk possible with this company as a new driver and NOT breaking the 10-11 hour driving rule? Will there be any deductions from this $500 that means I made $500 but what goes to my bank account is a lot less than $500?
I'm just a real good person that doesn't mind working hard or dealing with crap as long as I get to know about it up front. I'm really nervous about going with Stevens but I'm also desperate can't afford to pay for school on my own.
Thanks for any feedback.
