I have copies of my DAC on the way in the mail. What all does it detail ? my company does not report to them. is that a good or bad thing? I'm thinking about applying for a new job after the first of the year. I've been at my present job 10 years .I just wanna make sure everything is good before I apply for a new job .

It's a good thing your current company doesn't report to DAC. DAC is nothing but a scam. A company can report almost anything they want to DAC and make you look bad.

Why do they do this? Some companies have done it so if you quit, you can't get another driving job, and you're forced to go crawling back to them.

Example: 10 years ago a company reported to DAC I hit a stationary object with their trailer causing damage to the equipment. That was all the report said.
What it should have said was the stationary object was the ground, and the damage was a flat tire because I had to pull the trailer over a sidewalk because it was docked in an area so tight there was no other way to get it out.

DAC usually shows how long you worked there and if you had any incidents.
Refused or failed a pizz test,ect,ect...
It is BS that any company can put anything they want on it.

I said ALMOST anything, and it's how they word it that matters, such as the example I gave.

Nah, less is good. I got a copy of mine last month and there is nothing on it. They use other methods to check your employment dates. Then there is the CSA score sheet they can check on you.

All DAC/HireRight does is removes the work a safety/recruiter has to go through to vetting your driving history.

Before they got to big for their britches, a safety person or Human Resources person had to call at least the last person you worked for. Even though FMCSA states they verify the past 10 years some of the HR people would just call your last one because they had to call the one before them!

But with DAC if all your past jobs reported to that BFI then your "history" is there with everything that any company put in it. Anything from, man we hated to see him go to this guy cost us millions of dollars from an accident that was was not his fault to he just destroyed out reputation by threatening a dock foremen with death if they didn't get him unloaded.

BUT! If you are one of those who jumps ship every year or two then both DAC and the job application will tell the tale that you will jump this ship and not to bother wasting the money on bus ride, orientation, medical and insurance applications.

As to how truthful the reports are is the major problem many drivers have with the BFI AND the moron who does the reporting to DAC.

I have been advocating that DAC/HireRight must remove all "click on radio buttons" and force all reports on a driver be a type written paragraph of at least 500 words instead of those one click fits all crapola they have now! They also stop giving discounts to a check for a report which in actuality they pay companies to report or get a discount on their next driver search.
DAC then MUST also do a plagiarizing check on every report so that reporting companies can't do a cut and paste of a form letter to make reporting any driver an easy task! Make them WORK on screwing your life if you quit because they are BFI Scum sucking lowlife thieves or whatever!

We know that they would do this to cut costs in the office! BUT when DAC has to check every report it's going to cost them and it will cost BFI trucking company because they will have to have someone write every report they want to give DAC and they will have to decide if that one click fits all company called DAC is easier or cheaper than calling the last company you worked for to find out if you are worth hiring AND they will actually hear why you terminated or got terminated instead of reading "fired, not rehire-able" or some lie as to what actually happened in an accident which many of these BFI companies will slam you with just because you were not happy with them and it's a blacklist thing many of them do!

Anyway, the less there is on DAC the better you are! It's best if the less there is says will rehire or he was a great driver but had to go home for something or another and not FIRED we miss him so much! oh ewwweewww!

For you rookies still in that driver mill do NOT waste your free copy of a DAC report because you have no driving history so quit the gossip in class about DAC! It has no bearing on your life until the end of your first job!
