whats this mean???? -
wow ur smart
i will make the changes as soon as i can, should i get a different mic too or is the stock good? -
your coax need to be 3 foot long, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and so on. 3 foot increments.
gecryan Thanks this. -
and dont coil up the excess spread it out so you dont choke the signal
gecryan Thanks this. -
You have dead shorted your antenna to ground from looking at the pic. Go buy a Wilson little Wil magnet mount and put it up there after first tossing what you are using now. Pray you have not blown the final already and are only talking on 1/8th watt coming through from the driver. See arrow, likely why you do not hear much. Also, do not worry about the coax length. It does not need to be in 3's.

What makes you think this makes a difference? Do you really think people who have 100' towers outside use segments of 3' to get from the antenna down to the radio? There is no magic number of feet coax needs to be to tune the antenna...Shortest length possible to get from Point A to Point B is all you need...Only thing longer runs of coax does is adds resistance to the signal...which can make swr meters read lower...
"Choke the signal?" Your not going to be choking any signal by coiling up coax...Actually, coiling the coax can be a good thing to eliminate RFI traveling back down in your radio as noise...Tightly Coiling up the coax as close to the antenna as possible will stop RFI that usually shows up as whining in the receive...The signal inside the coax has no idea if the coax is coiled up or laid out flat like a board! RFI however travels the outside of the coax, so tightly winding it up on something like a small spool, then using zip ties or tape to hold it together traps the RFI before it gets back to the radio...has nothing to do with the signal.Last edited: Dec 1, 2011
Hellrost, Dirtymartini15x and WA4GCH Thank this. -
Yep ...
We are back to the cuting coax for a match again when you need to fix the problem at the antenna ... -
Why?? Please explain why this is so.
leon
(kc0iv)WA4GCH Thanks this. -
people using 100 foot towers prob have 102 ft of coax. this is the way it was explained to me by my mentor who talks on the super bowl from his t2000 while rolling down the road. so i was kind of inclined to listen to him. also that is what i have heard from a few cb shops. not saying that i believe everything i hear but when you start hearing the same thing from lots of people in different places, there must be some truth to it.
