You certainly do grow fond of the tool that makes you money. It's an extension of me and I try and keep it as nice as possible.

Truck is just a tool no different than the ag tractor I also own. I maintain it and operate it right, but I have no love or hate relationship with it. If it works, I keep it, if it doesn't, it is gone. It isn't a woman that needs to go to the beauty shop, so it doesn't get any more lights or chrome on it than what it came with, unless it serves a particular purpose to either make or save money. It gets cleaned regularly, more for protective purposes rather than so it can turn heads. It doesn't have a pet name either. And another truck is being spec'd at this time, so the one I have is reaching the end of its life cycle with me and will be put out to pasture. I do not have love/hate relationships with inanimate objects.

Love? Maybe a little much, but definitely fund of!

All trucks have a personality. Some are fun, some are pretty, some are comfortable, and some are nasty *itches!

I liked my 1997 379 5ek the most even tho my 01 w9 6nz is ok probably better.

Cowpie, I understand where you are coming from.
But you are kind of wrong.
To use your own words, when you get the wheels & tanks done same as it having gone to the beauty shop. New set of 1/4 fenders same as a set of ear rings. New tires= new shoes ( but more expensive ) See it's all how you look at it. Do I LOVE my truck like my wife or kids, of course not.
But I can say I love my truck. When the time comes an I get another one and sell this one I will miss her, and after a few day's or weeks I will love the new one. Just ask my true love my wife. lol

I think it's best put up as the "love" for a truck stems from your love of the craft. Even though most of us know that they are machines, we bond with them, we coax them over a hill - it's just a thing. I wrote about it in a blog a while back.

    http://musingsthroughthewindshield.blogspot.com/2010/09/for-love-of-road.html

I've driven both. Company trucks and my own. I had much more of a bond with the truck, and invested a lot of blood and sweat into it and would feel a sense of pride when it was all shiny and running well.

A buddy of mine years ago had, "The Mistress" pinstriped on the back of the sleeper. I've seen wives and girlfriends lament that, "he spends more time with that #### truck than me..."

It's just a matter of how you view it. It's not the same "love" that you would give to another human, but to some, there is a sense of love there.

Now, if you haven't bought the missus anything nice for the last couple of years, but ya' gotta have that Texas bumper, I'd revisit a few priorities. :biggrin_255:
