Sweet! Company I'm signed on to now puts all the good loads on their company trucks and teams get all the long stuff, really gone down hill last year and half. I'm ready to make a change. Thanks for all the info!
Is OOIDA only for US based O/O? Can I get insurance thru them also?

OOIDA sued LS a few years ago and beat em', it's not a good idea to come to LS with OOIDA ins.Elroythekid Thanks this. -
I would expect that things are about the same now as when I leased to them. They will buy your base plates and permits, but will take a flat fee out of your settlement each week. I think that it is about $75. Their base plates and permits should run around $2,200.
Landstar pays for cargo and auto liability insurance, but you will need to pay for collision, if you want it on your truck and you will also be required to pay for your own workers comp or occupational accident insurance. Most carriers require that you have bobtail insurance. Landstar required unladen liability in stead of bobtail insurance. Unless things have changed, Landstar doesn't have any sort of age restriction on equipment. All they require is that it pass a DOT inspection and look decent.Last edited: Dec 2, 2011
Elroythekid Thanks this. -
OOIDA does have a Canadian division. I would also be reluctant to have OOIDA insurance if you plan on going to Landstar. They are still smarting after the lawsuit several years ago. They tend to carry a grudge. www.ooida.com is the OOIDA website. They have contact numbers on their website. -
They didn't like OOIDA insurance when I was with them in 2000.

Was it Artisan?

Are you planning on leasing to them or brokering loads through Landstar? You don't need liability if you lease to them. -
I would be leasing to them I don't have my own authority. A BCO is what they call it?

Yes, Landstar calls their owner operators BCO's (Business Capacity Owners).Elroythekid Thanks this.
